Cadet Program Affiliation: Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class, Royal Canadian Sea Cadets
Jean Luc Blanchard joined Royal Canadian Sea Cadets with RCSCC ILLUSTRIOUS in September of 2004. From summer 2005 to 2007 JL attended summer training at HMCS ONTARIO, completing General Training, Trade Group I and II Music. In 2008 JL decided to take the summer to work and save up some money (which unfortunately didn’t happen). In 2009 JL was accepted as an Admin PO for staff at ONTARIO but ended up being placed in the Training Department, and was selected for the coveted Chief of Training position. JL has held many different positions at his home corps from Divisional Petty Officer to Guard Commander, and has risen up the ranks to CPO2.
JL has learned a lot from the cadet program such as leadership skills, public speaking and professionalism. This summer JL is hoping to return to HMCS ONTARIO for an exciting second year of staff, hopefully as Chief of Training again, or maybe even as Cox’n!
Once finished High School, JL hopes to have a career in the Canadian Navy or working with cadets. JL has been a member of CW since September 2006 and a moderator since November 2009.
