DMCorrigan
Sgt Corrigan Cassidy
DM Corrigan (also known in real life as Corrigan Cassidy)
joined the Royal Canadian Air Cadets in September 1999 on his 12th birthday,
and instantly joined the band. He was originally going to be an army
cadet, but had friends in Air so he went there.
After he joined cadets, he joined the squadron band, and was a self
proclaimed "alto sax player with an attitude" and "a bit of a brat"
(CW Note- talk about an understatement) ;) In April 2000 he was appointed
to LAC, and in May he was a member of the B-Division band that won second
place at competition. Doing well at the competition inspired him towards
becoming a drum major and the next training year he remained in band
and got up to Music Level 1.
His third year as a cadet was a good one - he won Most Improved Musician
at his ACR, he applied for and received training in the Service Band
for the summer, received his Level IV musician and his Band Qualification
Badge. He learned his drum majoring skills the following year and participated
in the Honour Band during Spring Break in 2003.
In April 2003 he received his Level V and his Sergeant's rank, at Band
Competition his band won again and he learned he was to be his Sqn's
Director of Music.
Being a member of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets has played a huge role
in Corri's life for five years, he has met some of his best friends
there and learned a great deal about himself in the process. If it weren't
for cadets, he would never have developed his love of music, nor have
become so proficient at it.
Corri graduates high school this month and has been accepted to the
University of British Columbia in the fall in the Science programme.
He plans to major in biochemistry. |
