CWwiki Rules and Policies
All members participating in the contribution and editing of content on the CWwiki are expected to read and abide by the rules and policies detailed on this page.
CW HOUSE RULES. The CW House Rules which govern the CW Forums are also applicable to the CWwiki. Members should be familiar with those rules. In particular, rules regarding inappropriate content, harassment, advertising / spam, dirty laundry. The underlying expectations are that you will represent themselves appropriately and correctly as expected for a member of the global cadet community; that you will treat others with respect and dignity; that you will express your views online in the same manner as would be expected of you in person.
ACCURACY AND APPEARANCE. Because the CWwiki is meant to be a knowledge base for information regarding Cadet youth organizations worldwide, it is of the utmost importance that every member ensure the accuracy of any content they contribute. Check and double-check your references, provide links to source documents where possible, and make use of footnotes to reference those links or other information published offline. It is also of utmost importance that you make every effort to ensure the spelling, grammar and punctuation of any content you contribute are correct. Please spell-check, and make use of the "preview" feature to double-check your pages before saving them.
COPYRIGHT POLICY. All members should review the CWwiki Copyright Policy page for information on the copyrights of material that is published on the CWwiki, and information on respecting the copyrights of material submitted to the CWwiki. Do not submit copyrighted works without proper permission, except as allowed under "fair dealing/fair use" guidelines.
RELEVANCY OF CONTENT. The goal of the CWwiki is to be a repository of knowledge related to Cadet youth organizations worldwide. As such, all content should be relative to those Cadet programs in some way. Articles about regular military units / formations / equipment, etc are not normally relative to Cadet organizations and so should not be created here.
APPLICABLE CADET / MILITARY PUBLISHING REGULATIONS. It is the responsibility of each contributing member to ensure that any content they contribute to the CWwiki is in accordance with any regulations, policies or guidelines applicable to their organization. A listing of applicable policies from various organizations will be compiled here on the CWwiki for the convenience of members. CWwiki pages should not be made about individuals unless they are highly noteworthy, eg, Director of Cadets, etc. Do not make CWwiki pages about yourself, or Cadets or Staff from your unit. Do not make pages about your particular division / platoon / flight / course serial. A page could be made about a particular training course in general, but we do not need one for each course from each training centre for each year. If you are in doubt as to whether a topic is relevant to the CWwiki, please contact the CWwiki Mod team or start a thread in the CWwiki discussion forum. Although a topic may be important to you, it may not be judged to be relevant to a sufficient number of people to be deserving of a page on the CWwiki. CWwiki mods will remove pages on subjects they feel are not relevant enough to warrant a page here.
DUPLICATION OF OFFICIALLY PUBLISHED INFORMATION. Where officially published information exists online, a CWwiki article should not duplicate that entire source information, but should briefly summarize it and link to the official source. Example: regulations, orders, forms, etc.
OFFICIAL UNIT WEBSITES vs WIKI PAGES. Officially authorized websites for Cadet units or establishments (eg, Training Centres, Headquarters formations, etc) are to be considered as officially published information about that unit. As such, CWwiki Rule #5 is applicable: do not duplicate all the source information about that Cadet unit. Summarize the details about the unit/establishment, with a link to the Official website for the unit. (EG: "123 RCACS SOMEUNIT is an Air Cadet Squadron located in Somewhere, ON, Canada. Information regarding 123 RCACS can be found at their Official Website "here.") After a summary, it is acceptable to then add in information historical information or trivia about the unit/establishment which may or may not be available on the Official Website, such as lists of former CO's, former CPO1 / CWO / WO1 of the unit, etc. A CWwiki page about a Cadet unit/establishment should not try to replace the role of the Officially authorized unit/establishment website. It also should not be used as a "news and events" source for that unit/establishment. It should provide simple reference information and information of a historical or trivial nature.
CWwiki MODERATORS / PAGE DISCUSSION. The CWwiki is cared for by a team of CWwiki Moderators, who will help ensure that content meets acceptable guidelines, and who will arbitrate any disagreements over content. Any concerns or disputes about content should be brought to the attention of a member of the CWwiki Mod Team. Discussion of CWwiki content will take place in a designated forum of CadetWorld Forums.
RIGHTS OF MANAGEMENT. CWwiki Moderators and CW Management reserve the right to edit or delete any information contributed to the CWwiki. CW Management reserves the right to remove access to the CWwiki of any member who does not follow the rules and policies of CW and the CWwiki.
PRIVACY POLICY. Members or guest viewers of the CWwiki may wish to familiarize themselves with the CW Privacy Policy, which outlines the data collection, retention and disclosure policy of Cadet-World.com.
QUESTIONS. Any questions regarding these rules and policies may be directed to the CW Management, via Private Message for members, or via our Online Contact Form for non-members.
