Cadet Summer Training Centres (CSTC) operate from mid June to August and offer summer training courses to the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets, Royal Canadian Army Cadets and the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. Air Cadet Regional Gliding Schools (RGS) are also included as CSTCs.

Many CSTC across Canada, while named as a certain elemental training centre, may offer courses to one or more of the other cadet elements. For example, Blackdown Army Cadet Summer Training Centre, listed as an Army Cadet Summer Training Centre, also offers courses to Air Cadets and Sea Cadets in addition to Army Cadets.

Some facilities that house CSTCs are maintained with reduced manning over the winter and accomodate weekend and spring break activities.

Staff

The staff at Cadet Summer Training Centres is comprised mostly of Canadian Forces Cadet Instructors Cadre Branch officers, augmented by Primary Reserve and Regular Force personnel and Civilian Instructors assisted by Staff Cadets. Together they fill divisional, instructional, and support positions.

Courses

Cadets apply for two, three, six, and eight-week courses designed to complement, supplement or support training offered in the Phase, Star, or Level programs at the local corps or squadron.

Two-week

The only two-week course is the elementally distinct General Training course, designed to introduce cadets to CSTC life and training opportunities.

Three-week

Three-week courses offer an introduction to a variety of subjects, usually with the potential for a follow-up six-week course.

Six-week

Six-week courses either offer a continuation of a subject introduced in a three-week course, or operate as a stand-alone, covering an advanced skill or qualification. Until 2009, all Army Cadet Leader courses were six weeks in duration. All Army Cadet Leader Instructors are six weeks in duration, with the CLI-Marksman course as an exception.

Seven-week

The only two seven-week courses are: Power Pilot Scholarship, for Air Cadets, at the five Regional Gliding Schools across Canada and the Army Cadet Leader Instructor - Marksman course at Connaught NACSTC

Eight-week

The only eight-week course is: Marine Engineering, for Sea Cadets, at HMCS QUADRA.
