But despite being an Army Reservist he was invited in his capacity as an ex-CPO

Good to see you haven't dropped off the face of the planet Chuck.

If anyone can cough up enough lids and sets of W3's for tomorow, I am sure that we can get the Army Cadets to go navy rig for a day...

Despite that, please give your support to the Army Cadet Band. They've had alot of good musician's age out of cadets in the past months and have had a tough time keeping up numbers. I still remember not long ago, the glory days when the band paraded up to 50 cadets. It seems to be close to impossible to find young musicians (ie 13-18 y.o.'s) who are willing to join these days.

My grandfather was a WOMTH in the RAN for like 345689592 years, and he wasn't invited, he didn't even know anything was going on. I told him the other night.

Well, I am told that the parade generally went well, except I only got to see the tail end of it all! Man, what bands were marching, and what formed contingents were there?!? I only got the see the nashos, one pipe band and the ambo's band. Of course there was the AACBS with the customary one navy cadet in the front rank and one in the rear rank.

You should see us at the Easter Show though, when there might be up to 7 or 8 navy cadets in the band. Not much help from the AAFC though... We were meant to go tri-service 2 years ago, and the AAFC havn't made as good of a show as they could have. Reserve Forces Day 2003 was pretty good though about 7 navy, 20 Army and 6 Air Force Cadets. I even had my picture in the Navy News.

Hmmmmm, the AAFC has had a proficient Drum Corps that has been performing for longer than I can remember.

That in mind your comment there is pretty out of line Martin. Don't go disrespecting different services when they have been doing it better and for longer!

You say that the AAFC is not putting up as good a show as it should? Yet the numbers you throw up for the ANC are the same! Think before typing!

Sorry, I was not meaning to bad-mouth the AAFC Drum Corps.

The point I was trying to make was that since the Tri-Service thing was started, their attendance has been patchy at best. Whilst they field similar numbers, they tend to be on a rather unpredictable basis.

They are good drummers, no doubt about that, but I would have liked to have seen them more often. The Last time I saw the AAFC drummers was at the Reserve Forces Day March 2003.

I thought it wasa good day! Good to see a lot of people again! The march was kinda messed up, coz the drum corps behind us was playing on a different step than the one in front of us, and us in the last few files got confused a lot. But otherwise it was good!

I wish we had time to talk to cadets from other units though. Last time I did that was the January ACT . . .

I was so wired though today! I had four hours of broken sleep and I got up at four this morn to go for a run, and I had about three coffees before we came down. This one funny mug I put four spoons of coffee and fives sugars.I couldn't stand still, it was quite funny.

Oh! And there were these two CDT POs there that were really awesome! They gave a demonstration of regular unit activities, where one PO played the harmonica and the other gave an alternatvie interpretive dance to the music. This gave the cadets from other units an example what NEPEAN's POs do. I bet they were really jealous that they don't have POs as cool as us!

Problem was that Kristy couldn't play the harmonica...

Unfortunately I didn't get to see who was there

I havn't seen more than 30 Navy Cadets in the same place since ACT's in January. Even at AFX, I only saw about 10 in a group at any one time.

You NEPEAN people really have some problems when you think that other cadets will think you're cool because you can't play the harmonica..

Must be the blue-green algae in the Nepean River..

Say no to drugs Dean!!!!

Chieffy,

He does say "NO" to drugs, but that doesn't stop him from eating those mushrooms we found growing by the river...

Hey, you can't blame us for eating those! We had no money for food so we went looking for alternative food sources, those mushrooms were awesome! And drinking the river to wash it down, that was good too!

Of course NEPEAN would be a world of their own! Anyone who spends that much time up in Penrith is boud to go nuts! The worst part of the area is Werrington... It is seriously the middle of nowhere... Penrith is closer to the edge of nowhere....

For me, its going down to Penrith, coz I live in the Blue Mountains. But yeah, maybe its not Penrith, but the cadet unit that does these things to you? Corruption? It doesn't matter about any of that though, coz the cadets have fun, the officers get paid and we put out an excellent image for the ANC!
