you no how those stripes under the names are for how long you've been a member of CW? Why dont they correspond to how many posts you've done, it would encourage more people to post, and the people who hardly ever post don't get the stripes.

Been there, done that. And it didn't reflect good posts as compared to post inflation for that LookCoolFactor of having x# of posts. People were posting just because they could- and often it wasn't very productive.

yeah... basically it just causes people to spam. So for example... you would have like 8 people just saying 'yeah' to this thread.

I think they should bring back reputation, you know!? I really liked that

Muppet, the word you're looking for there is MUPPET...

Stars.....Leave the Crayon Queen alone...those were UGLY...these are nice, clean and pretty.

We ALSO give away custom avatars on a weekly basis. -No need for post count rewards.

People dont make as big a deal as they used to about post. You would get threads poping up about this person getting to so many post and others would put at the bottom a mile stone post. The number of post that you have made is in your profile. There are not as many short usless post. Every one was competing to see who can have the biggest and best.

I too prefer this no post count thing. Just because someone has 209381093820938 posts doesn't mean that any of them were quality. Post count seemed to encourage useless posts and useless threads; and those with high numbers sometimes implied that they were "better" than others, despite these same people often having posted mostly spammy or other useless information.

I liked that... but I guess that could just as easily be done with PMs...

And I'll admit to being guilty of post inflation from time to time...

... so I'll agree that it's better when it doesn't matter how many posts you have.

Who wouldn't want a bigger shinier star? Where did the design of those stars come from? Kinda reminded me of Star Trek, but not exactly. It made people want to post more, even though some posts were made on the intent of boosting the post count.

Maybe they could use the stars instead of the little green bibs... thingers... majigers... for reputation. Big shiny star for good quality posts.

It's been said enough times above, they decided not to base it on posts because not every post was worthy, and more people would want to spam rather than post their good thoughts and ideas.

You can still read someone's number of posts in their profile.
