    Parade boots

I'm a new cadet and I've been trying to shine my parade boots. I've tried to shine my boots but the polish on the sides and the sort of joint area behind the toe keeps on crumbling when I try to buff it. I've been told this is "boot cancer". It's also not getting a mirror finish. Please leave your suggestions. I've heard that things, like Parade Gloss is bad when used a lot (But not when used sparingly) and that neutral polish is good.

Strip the boots with hot water and a plastic bristled boot brush or credit/gift card.

Put a new base coat on and wait for it to dry (don't make it too thick), then polish the base coat with just a little water and no polish. Then get a little bit of polish and polish like you would normally.
