I will update this thread as information becomes available from local media outlets.

Okay folks, this is public news but let's please keep the rumour, gossip and general speculation to a minimum on this. It is still an active investigation so let's not get ahead of the facts.

    Thanks in advance!

We found out about it during our training day at the gliding center. We are all glad that the pilot is okay.

I doubt that it will be; the pilot was a probably minor, meaning that he would be protected, unless he chooses to go public.

It will eventually be released within the cadet program. It's not like we gossip or anything.

That was reported on the news here, but just that it was a glider, not that it was a cadet glider. Glad to hear that the pilot was OK...

Anyone know what type of glider that is? It doesn't look like a 2-33A

It is definitely a SGS 2-33A. They are the only glider the Royal Canadian Air Cadet fly. You can also tell by the shape of the tail, rudder horn and fibreglass nose cone.

I would request we keep the gossip to a minimum, this can be a very traumatic experience for a pilot and probably wouldn't help if everyone is talking about who it is.

Ok, thanks for explaining that to me, I think the paintjob probably threw me off, as I have only ever seen Pra region gliders, which have a yellow paint job on them. Not to mention that Pra Region Glider #8 is based out of the MJGC, the one I fly at.
On a side note, what do you think will have to be done to the glider to get it flying again?

There goes another reason for the program to get discounted. I am glad no one was hurt.
