    Support Our Troops 2010-2011

This year, more than ever, we are encouraging CW members to send letters to deployed CF Pers overseas.

The staff at CW are trying hard to obtain the names and units of deployed members but we are having difficulty. Units are in rotation in Afghanistan so things are a little hectic.

In the mean time, you are encouraged to send letters to Any Canadian Soldier at one of the following deployments:

OPS ACCIUS, ARCHER and ARGUS- Kabul, Afghanistan

I'm gonna try to get my corps to send something as a group. Two years ago, we sent a picture from a newspaper of a canadian flag with something else on it relating to the troops and all our signatures.
If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume I am not allowed to do it.

Keep in mind that parcels addressed to "Any Canadian Soldier" will NOT be accepted and will be returned to sender once they arrive in Trenton. This is due to security concerns they have experienced in the past. Stick to letters or postcards for the initial contact.

I got my CO on board with sending a group picture of our corps with a message to one of the deployments.

As I mentioned above, I get far better responses from the non-Afghan Ops. Maybe luck of the draw, or maybe they get less mail, only they know why.

My Corps made a Christmas Wish video and sent it to troops in Afganistan. It was kind of fun and didn't cost much to make, only time. A local school taped their Remembrance Day ceremony and shipped a DVD copy over with some letters. It was also very well received.

I am not sure how old your students are, but VAC has plenty of projects.
