NOTICE OF RACE
The Royal Vancouver Yacht Club is pleased to give notice of the 2010 Commodores' Cup Junior Regatta.
This regatta has proven to be the culmination and the highlight of the Youth Training Programs in B.C.
Designed to be the major youth competitive training event of the year, the Commodores' Cup Regatta
aids in identifying young sailors with potential for further development.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
The races shall be held under The Racing Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of the Canadian Yachting
Association, and the Sailing Instructions.
ELIGIBILITY
The classes eligible to race shall be Laser >> (with and without spinnaker), 420 (with and without
spinnaker), Pirate, Laser, Laser Radial, Byte, Optimist (Novice and Racing fleets), and sailboards. The
Commodores' Cup Committee reserves the right to add or delete a class of boats as it deems
appropriate. Skippers and crew shall be 17 years of age or under. They shall not have attained their 18th birthday by December 31st, 2010. No participant shall have received funding from the C.Y.A. or any Provincial Sailing Association. Each entrant must have participated in a Club Training Program as a student in 2010 and must represent that Yacht Club in the Regatta.
A club training program is defined as one in which the participant has achieved a CYA level such as White Sail I, II, III, Bronze IV, V or LTR In the optimist class participants must declare whether or not they are a member of a club race team.
REGISTRATION
Registration will take place between 1400 hours and 1800 hours on Monday, August 30
THERE IS NO REGISTRATION ON TUESDAY MORNING.
It is the responsibility of each competitor to make sure their registration form is complete and accurate. Incomplete and\or inaccurate registration forms may result in disqualification from the regatta. Waivers must be signed by a parent or guardian to validate registration.
ENTRY FEE
The entry fee shall be $85.00 per participant (HST included). Entry fee includes a bag lunch each day,
pizza on Tuesday evening and a ticket for the Commodores Cup Awards Banquet on Thursday
September 2, 2010. Extra banquet tickets will be $30.00 per person including HST.

Monday August 30th
1000 hrs Coaches should plan to bring their team's boats to R.V.Y.C. on this date. Mooring space
will be provided for the duration of the Regatta.
1400-1800hrs Registration in the North Boardroom at R.V.Y.C
Tuesday August 31st
1000 hrs. Coaches Meeting (it is mandatory that one coach or club representative attend this
meeting)
1030 hrs. Skippers meeting
1130 hrs. Race One followed by races two, three, and four. Lunch will be on the water. (Coaches
will organize their teams for lunch)
1600 hrs. End of racing
1700 hrs. Informal pizza dinner
Wednesday September 1st
1000 hrs. Racing.
1300 hrs. Lunch on the water (time approximate)
1600 hrs. End of racing
Thursday September 2nd
0830 hrs. Coaches Meeting for Optimist Class Coaches
0930 hrs. Skipper’s Meeting for all Optimist Class Sailors
1000 hrs. Racing
1300 hrs. Lunch ashore
1400 hrs. End of racing. Pack up boats
1800 hrs. Awards Banquet at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club. We encourage all participants to
attend with their parents, coaches, Club Commodores and Junior Advisors.
SCORING
The low point scoring system shall be used.

Notice of Race
The Maple Bay Yacht Club is proud to host the 55th Annual Labour Day Regatta in Maple Bay.
Sailors of PHRF-NW rated boats, one design classes and dinghies are invited to participate. This year’s regatta is inclusive of the new “Ultra Class Division” started in 2009 competing for the Don Taylor Cup. This exciting annual event will get underway Friday evening September 3rd with registration, a no host bar and complimentary soup and bun.
Wake early on Saturday for the Commodore’s pancake breakfast and complete your registration before heading out onto the race course in beautiful Maple Bay. After a day on the water, join our renowned margarita party, enjoy the smooth sounds of jazz on the lawn and the famous Steak and Salmon BBQ-on-the-grill. Finish off the night dancing to more live music in the Clubhouse.
In celebration of the 55th Annual Labour Day Regatta in Maple Bay, this year’s theme captures those earlier days of the event. So be sure to join in the fun with you and your crew dressed up in your favorite 1950’s regalia.
The regatta will conclude on Sunday with yet another Commodore’s breakfast, more racing around the buoys and awards ceremony.

Registration applications must include full payment and photocopies of your current PHRF Certificate (for boats entering PHRF Classes) and Certificate of insurance, indicating public liability coverage of not less than $1,000,000.
Please note: Minors who intend to register must have their entry form signed by a responsible parent or guardian.

Late Registrations may be accepted until 0900 hrs Saturday September 4, 2010 upon payment of a $10.00 premium per boat. Note: Late registration payments must be made at the registration desk by cash, credit card or debit card.
Registration Packages including Sailing Instructions will be available for pick-up at the MBYC Clubhouse from 1800 hrs until 2100 hours Friday, September 3, 2010, and from 0700 hrs until 0900 hrs Saturday, September 4, 2010.
Skippers’ Meeting
The Skippers’ meeting will be held at 0900 hrs on Saturday, September 4, 2010. Race Divisions will be assigned at the Skippers’ meeting.
Safety Equipment
All boats must comply with applicable coast guard regulations. Boats racing in PHRF Divisions must comply with PIYA Category III. Boats racing in one-design classes must comply with one-design association requirements.
Big boat entries should carry VHF radio to receive instructions from the Race Committee.
Entry Fees
Registration is $60.00 (big boats) and $30.00 (dinghies) which includes one (1) Saturday Evening Steak and Salmon dinner ticket. Additional dinner tickets for crew members can be purchased in advance or at the MBYC Clubhouse prior to the afternoon of September 4th. Moorage for registered yachts in the Regatta will be accommodated at the Maple Bay Yacht Club as best we can as always!
