Interesting but surprising because it bucks the trend of many of the other advanced courses (including the replacement for SLC) to have an emphasis on the word "Instructor" in the name - especially when the current course name already had that word included in it.

Where did you hear that, by the way?

Indeed. I was wondering on a source for this as well...

I'm pretty sure that's a rumour, and although the course is changing, the course was staying 'Survival Instructor'. If you check that chart that was posted awhile back, it still says Survival Instructor.

I heard the rumour from some of the SI staff at Blackdown. This rumour has been floating since at least 99 when I took Aircrew in Cold Lake.

Our CO at SIC told us, as the new syllabus was being created already.

Maybe someone should let D Cdts staff know, they don't appear to be aware of this change.

Who ever told you that is incorrect. Survival Instructor's Course is not changing name... further to that, there is no course offered by the cadet program which focuses on search and rescue.... could be cool though.

I'm a SLC grad from 1989. Definately sad to hear of its demise. I'd like to see a picture of the shoulder flash you have. "I went to Cold Lake and all I brought back was a dumb T Shirt" (Joking aside, I still have it)
