NOA Band and Drill Comp 2009

Hi, just wondering how is everybody's band that is entering comp doing? Our Brass and Reed band is going to comp this year after like 3 years of not going (We were best overall and best Brass and reed band back then). We are pretty good this year our freestyle has alot of movement in it but we are having trouble with the compulsory piece Officer of the Day (Anybody other band also having problems with it?) Oh we are from Sault Ste. Marie

Which Soo unit are you from. I'll be there to watch, haven't been in a few years, I remember when it used to be held in the Soo

.. are you talking about a brass & reed class A band?

Yes I am talking about a Class A Brass and Reed band. Our squadron has two bands a Class C Pipes and Drums Band (#1 for the past 3 years) and a Class A Brass and Reed band (#1 Class A and Best Overall band 3 years ago) I think it was. But then we lost interest in the Brass band so we didnt go to comp but this year we have a 23 person band so we are entering both our bands in comp.

This just in for 2009 .....

NOA Best Class 'A' Band (Brass & Reed) - 101 RCSCC Tiger
NOA Best Class 'B' Band (Drum & Bugle) - 46 RCSCC Royal Sovereign
NOA Best Class 'C' Band (Pipes & Drums) - 155 RCSCS Borden Gray

...and it looks like the trophy is back on our bulkhead for another year...

NOA Best Band Overall - 46 RCSCC Royal Sovereign

Congrats to all the bands! I heard it was a very close competition decided by mere tenths of a point. All the cadet bands work very hard and should be proud of their accomplishments - especially 155 Air Brass & Reed. After a few years away from competition I heard that you turned a few heads to serve notice that you are back. Keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing videos of these bands soon.

Good job to everyone competing, especially 306 Captain Kidd. I was very impressed with how far the drill came a long and how well they did w/o a full drill team

You are correct! I checked with someone else who was there and they agree theat the announcer said it was the 155 P&D band that placed a very close 2nd to our band.

As for any videos, I hope to see some on Youtube shortly.

In London, we had four teams made up of 14 cadets. The results are:
    3rd Place - Flag Hoist
5th Place - Sea Quiz, Gyn, Sheerlegs, Gyn Captain
    6th Place - Sheerlegs Captain
