Air Summer Courses 2010 - Air Cadets

No one currently at my squadron has been on this, and I'm really paranoid about not getting power, so tell me all about Oshkosh trip! I really have no idea about it.

    oshkosh, ahh, the memories.
first of all, not to put you down or anything, but oshkosh is NO LONGER a GPS/PPS spare cadet camp. Starting 2008, It is officially a scholarship camp just as IACE. You now have to apply for it separately on the scholarship card form (the DND 2226), and go through boards for it. So, if anyone who thinks they can get in if they dont get GPS/PPS, sorry, no you can't.

Oshkosh is a 16-day exchange camp where you only get four escort officer, and one bus driver (maybe two drivers if your bus breaks down, which happened to us in 2007). Thats it. No staff cadets to tell you what to do, you only wear cadet uniform 4 times (twice for travelling to and from the camp, and twice during the camp). It is more like a road trip. You stay in hotels ranging from 3-5 stars.

If you want to know how the our trip was in 2007, go to this site and read the full trip report written by a BC cadet that was on the trip.

it's the sickest cadet camp you can go to (xept glider & power) but it's so slack~ no drill, no classes, NOTHING like a CSTC. If anyone would like more info drop me a PM.

My bad... To the parental units anything is camp as long as you're away during the summer months Highly suggest it for those who love the aviation side of cadets~

I think in regions where they can fill up there spots without the need of boards can do it...
example: pac region can only allow 8 people to go to oshkosh this year, and if there are like 13 of u applying, they will just look at the most desrving and send them...no boards needed.

good job to her...shes really gonna have lots of fun.
tell her to bring her laptop (if she has one) cuz you stay at hotels, and they all have free wireless internet. and also an ipod, psp, or anything that will help take her mind off of the long road trips (they sometimes can be 8 hrs long). and also bring money, lots of it, and make sure her suitcase is literly empty, or bring more than one (i had to carry 2 backpacks, 3 bags filled with stuff, and drag along a big suitcase on my way home).
also, tell her to bring like a 32 GB memory card for her camera.
