I will have to see if the CO would like the Drum Major would like to wear a white lanayrd, But I am guessing the answer will be no as the Drum Major has the the badge and the blue sash already. But it is a common thing to have to drum major be quite accented.

I want a white lanyard now. I saw people with them who were non-SLC grads who were at the Battle of Britain. I'm gonna try to convince my CO to let us wear them and apparently my squadron has mass amounts of white lanyards.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it very much. And the decision has now been made that lanyards are only to be worn on CO's Parades & Ceremonial parades. Its not what everyone wanted, but beggars can't be choosers I guess.

That's what it might be in your squadron, but every squadron has its own CO and therefore every squadron can have a differet set of people permitted to wear lanyards.

For sure. At my first squadron, my CO authorized the flight commander of the top flight to wear an Ontario Provincial Police graduation lanyard. It was gold in the centre and navy blue on either side, and actually looked quite good on my uniform. Hilarious is the only way to describe having the CO scrambling downstairs from the office once or twice a month to tell me that there was a visitor and that I had to take the lanyard off as soon as humanly possible.

It was oh so bad yet oh so funny all at once.

That doesn't convey a very good message to the cadets. (And the fact that it was a police lanyard is slightly ironic.)

I know, I know...believe me I am well aware of how bad it was...and it was only funny because my CO was insistent on having some sort of special reward, not because I was breaking any rules.

At 51, it's the current drill team, anyone who was on the drill team in 04 (the year we won provincials), and I believe that parade positions and flag party wear them too. I could be wrong, though.

actualy, its only drill team of the winning provincal team that is suposed to wears the lanyard at 51 but we do have the other members waer it now and ya we have a lanyard party every year so all members of the drill team (including spaires) work to make our own lanyards from skrap!
its sooo fun looking for word to it this year.

I believe it is at the CO's discretion, if everyone is allowed a lanyard, go for it!

I made my own...hard on your hands...so proud of myself though!

but its not at che CO's discretion for coloured lanyards, its not in the catos

    so no to coloured ones

but white can be worn by the flag party and certian cadets such as the sqn commander on special parade nights or events

My Squadron has a weird way of splitting up the lanyards
-The commander wears one that has about 10 strings circleing your arm... kind've weird, But looks really cool. It's been passed down in my squadron since before I joined.
-Any other warrent officers wear a white DNA like one (or that's what we call it)it's twisted , but looks like the classic ones.
-Fsgt's wear a woven one ... it's really cool and looks complicated but also awesome.
    -sgt's wear the classic lanyard.
-corporals wear a small braided one.

and the ac's and lac's don't have one

Also our parade positions, flag party, and band wear the white belts.
    Only on CO's parade though.
