Another Good Sailor Died Tonight About 2 hours ago, in Newfoundland....we lost one of the kindest and sweetest guys alive. RIP Matthew Symes. He was Coxn of RCSCC Sir Humprey Gilbert in Fortune Newfoundland. Did Tg 1,2 and 3 at HMCS Acadia. This past summer he was a tg 2 sail dpo at HMCS Acadia, and he will be greatly missed. We all love you Matty, RIP sorry guys, its hard for me to write this because he was one of my best friends, anyone who ever knew Matthew knows he is a beautiful person. So I figured I'd try until I couldn't see the screen through my tears...say a prayer for him everyone please... |
My condolensces to you and his family. I don't know why, but that name sounds oddly familiar..... |
Losing someone close to you is one of the toughest challenges to face. Cherish the memories you have, and take comfort from those around you who share your fondness for Matthew. And know that right now, friends you know only from these pages are thinking of you, and your loss. |
My condolences to all his family and friends. I have not lost a friend but i know what it is like to lose someone that was really close to you. |
My sympathies to you, his family and all of his friends. I know how you feel. If you want to talk or anything get ahold of me. |
I'd also like to pass along that another great cadet, great person, Ashley Tulk, also a cadet with Sir Humphrey Gilbert in Fortune tragically passed away in the same accident tonight. They were both wonderful, beautiful people who will be missed greatly by everyone who knew both of them. I've gone from crying to being in utter disbelief. I keep thinking it's a mistake and tomorrow I will find out that they're alright. As much as I know this is not true, I still can't come to grips with the situation. Ashley was a beautiful person, inside and out. She was full of life and admired by all who knew her. Likewise, Matthew was a wonderful person. Anytime you needed a shoulder to cry on or someone to talk to, he was there. I was greatly blessed to have known and been friends with both of them. They will be in my heart forever. |
I only met Matthew for a brief period of time when i went on exchange to newfoundland with cadets, and he was an amazing person, always happy and full of jokes. To all that knew him well, my deepest and sincerest condolences. The void you feel in your heart will never fully heal, but u will learn to live with it, and you will realize that eventho he is not here physcially, he is with you with every lil thing that you do -SS |
My heart goes out to all that are affected by this tragic loss. Two young lives ended way too soon. I hope that happy memories will help all who knew and loved them get through this painful time. May they rest in peace. |

yeah.. i noticed that mistake shortly after. I'm sorry |
where do I start to talk about Matt... He was the Greatest guy to walk on this earth.. and that is no lie. I did 2 years of course with Matthew, and I luckily got to keep in great touch with him throughout the year. We had a pack, SYRT. He told me I was like the sister he never had, I just cant stop thinking about that now... We planned on going to Memorial, there we would Eat tubes of icecream and have slumber parties. who would of thougth any of this would happen. If you met matt you knew he was special, you knew he was a saint ( I dont meant o force relgion on anyone). Matt was and will always be in my heart. He showed us all stregth, and gave us all that laughter that we thought was gone. He showed me how to smile, and how to challenge myself even when it is on barable. Matthew Symes, Buddy I miss you. Last Night was the longest day of my life. and tomorrow is due to be the same. I keep on thinking about his brother, Bradley. He was such a trouble maker. And Matt kept him in line, Matt was his role-model. My Heart is with his Family at this time, Due to Exam week, I wont be attending his Funeral, But my words will be said by his friend. Matt Symes is a great guy, I will never forget you Matt.. you made us all better ppl! And I will forever be in debt to you. You are in a better place now, May Angels lead you in. Forever watch over me my friend. I love you, And Miss you. You SYRT sister, Carissa Dort MATTHEW SYMES July 8th, 1987 - Jan 21st, 2005 http://img168.exs.cx/img168/5303/matthew2jn.jpg |
