yay to CW for getting a blog option (:

I'm Rebecca , I'm fifteen years old & I'm a flight corporal in 587 Whitney Pier RCACS . this is a bit about my cadet career so far & how it's influenced my life .

A few years ago when I was in grade six , a few of my friends were showing me these odd things that I did not understand at the time , they told me it was called "ease, attention & easy" and I really had no idea why I was doing them , I knew it had something to do with cadets, but I wasn't really educated on what it was. They wanted me to join, but I didn't really want to at that point .

One day in grade seven, a few people in uniform came to my class to talk about Cadets, the benefits of being in it, and what goes on. After hearing a bit about it, I decided that I wanted to go and see what it was actually like.

October 4th, 2005 , at about six o'clock in the evening , I walked into my school and saw many people in uniform, and each one of them moved at the same time when the Warrant Officer stood them at ease. Not gonna lie , it intimidated me a bit , but I went in and sat down next to a few other people from my school who wanted to experience Cadets.

My junior year, i experienced everything that goes on at 587 squadron . From the many parades to the Winter Ball , to Winter Carnival Week, Sports Competition Weekend and Finally my first ACR.
I learned so much that year, from how to tie my boots to the rank structure & many other important things .

The summer of '06 I attended my first summer course at Greenwood Air Cadet Summer Training Center , on Basic, and it was so fun .

Now, I'm entering another year in Cadets . Over the past few years i've made so many friends , & i've kept them all. In my squadron, we are all very close friends and love to chill outside of cadets, and can talk for hours about anything. We're always there for each other when we need advice or just someone to talk to, and I'm so glad I met them.

This program has influenced my life, because it's given me a lot more confidence, made me a better leader, and of course my physical fitness has improved. I love wearing the uniform, and I am proud to tell people that I am an Air Cadet.

I am very glad that I chose to become an Air Cadet. It has , and is continuing to teach me new things about Canada, leadership , and teamwork . It deffinately was
the best choice I've ever made.
