    This page outlines Policies and Terms of Use of Cadet-World.com (aka "CadetWorld", aka "CW", also referred to herein as "the website" or "the site"), including:

    - data collection, retention and disclosure policies

    - technical details related to the collection of and access to information

    - the use of browser cookies

    - presentation and retention of data

    - assignment of rights to member-contributed content

    - requirements and usage of personally identifying information, member privacy and account deletion

    These policies apply to all areas of the website, including but not limited to the Message Forums, Content Section, Photo Albumsn, Live Chat Room, Blogs and Wiki.

    Technical Overview

    When a visitor to Cadetworld requests or reads a page, no more information is collected than is typically collected by other web sites.

    IP Addresses

    Access by unregistered visitors or non-logged in members to CadetWorld is logged in the server's access log. This data is not generally monitored or reviewed except in rare circumstances.

    Access by registered members who log in to CadetWorld is logged in the site database(s). This data is not generally monitored or reviewed, but may be queried in order to resolve issues of misuse of the site or violation of site rules and policies, such as in cases where it is suspected that multiple accounts are being used by the same individual in a manner which disrupts the site. The forum allows logged in members to view who else is currently logged in to the site, and also to view when another member last logged in to and/or contributed to the site.


    In order to facilitate the functioning of the website, the various software which runs the site make use of cookies to track user activity. Those software components set temporary session cookies on a visitor's computer whenever the site is is visited. Readers who do not intend to log in may deny these cookies. If they do not, the cookies will be deleted at the end of the browser's session.

    Registered users may log in to CadetWorld with their username and password. The forum software sets cookies to keep a member logged in, track current activity, and remember your last activity. These cookies enable the forum software to show a member new forum posts since their last visit, new personal messages, etc. These cookies will expire at the end of a browser session unless the member chooses to have the cookie stored on their computer by clicking the "Remember Me" option when logging in.

    It is recommended that members using public or shared computers not use the "Remember Me" option, or log out / clear all cookies after each session in order to prevent misuse of their account.

    Third Party Cookies

    CadetWorld has partnered with some external advertising services to raise revenue to support our site.

    CadetWorld uses Google AdSense for content based advertising on certain pages throughout our site. Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on CadetWorld. Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to users based on their visit to CadetWorld and other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy at the Google Privacy Center.

    CadetWorld is a participant in the Amazon.com.ca, Inc. Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.ca / Amazon.com. Books, DVDs and other products from Amazon.com are recommended on this site. Amazon may use log files, web beacons and cookies to collect and store information from browsers and this site to, but not limited to, allow personalization of your shopping experience and allow items to be added to your shopping cart.     These third-party ad servers or ad networks use technology to the advertisements and links that appear on www.cadet-world.com send directly to your browsers. They automatically receive your IP address when this occurs. Other technologies ( such as cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons ) may also be used by the third-party ad networks to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements and / or to personalize the advertising content that you see.

    CadetWorld has no access to or control over these cookies that are used by third-party advertisers.

    You should consult the respective privacy policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information on their practices as well as for instructions about how to opt-out of certain practices. CadetWorld's privacy policy does not apply to, and we cannot control the activities of, such other advertisers or web sites.

    If you wish to disable cookies, you may do so through your individual browser options. More detailed information about cookie management with specific web browsers can be found at the browsers' respective websites. Disabling cookies will result in decreased functionality when browsing CadetWorld.

    Membership Account and Personally Identifying Information

    CadetWorld reserves the right to deny or revoke membership to anyone based on proven or suspected potential misuse of our website.

    Members must identify themselves to the satisfaction of management in order to participate in this website. In order to be approved for membership, a user must provide a first and/or last name, accurate geographic location (city/town, province/state and country), and accurately indicate any Cadet or military affiliation they have. We require this information so that forum comments or wiki contributions/edits are sourced to a reasonably identifiable individual whose rank or position can be ascertained. This information is presented on a member's user profile page. This aids in preventing anonymous posting, impersonation, or misrepresentation of one's rank/position when presenting information. Our goal is that by ensuring someone's identity is attached to their comments or wiki contributions, it will keep the conversation / information honest and professional.

    Identifying information presented in a user profile is not visible to the general public, only other registered members can view user profiles.

    If a member chooses to indicate identifying information in their "signature block", that information will be visible to the general public.

    CadetWorld is under no general obligation to delete membership accounts. Deletion of the user account itself is not necessary to accomplish compliance with privacy laws. If a user chooses to no longer participate at CadetWorld, they may remove their personally identifying information from their user profile and signature block. Users may do this on their own without assistance from CadetWorld staff. By doing this, users will remove all personally identifying information from CadetWorld. If the user's account is named in such a way so as to be personally identifying, the user may request that the account be renamed so as to make the account name more anonymous.

    User Contributed Content

    Users may contribute content to Cadet-World.com in various forms, including but not limited to:
    • forum messages
    • photographs / images
    • documents
    • blog posts
    • article content
    • etc

    By contributing Content to the Site, you are granting CadetWorld a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide license to use that Content (which includes original video or other content hosted on a third-party server and/or site) in connection with the operation of the Site, including, without limitation, the license rights to store, copy, distribute, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, translate and reformat your contributed content, and/or to incorporate it into a collective work. This includes, but is not limited to, republishing the content onto our social media channels (eg, Facebook, Twitter, etc) or any other media, electronic or otherwise, for the purpose of promoting CadetWorld.

    Any content contributed to CadetWorld in any of our publishing tools are stored in our databases and/or web server.

    In the case of forum messages, blog comments and article comments, members may edit or remove those comments for up to one hour after being published. After that time, comments are locked from editing.

    In the case of photographs, images, and document attachments, in most cases members may modify or remove those at any time after posting. Members who have been restricted, suspended or banned may lose the ability to modify or remove photographs, images, and document attachments.

    In the case of a member's blog postings, in most cases members may modify or remove those at any time after posting. Members who have had their account restricted, suspended or terminated (aka "banned") may lose the ability to modify or remove blog postings.

    In the case of CadetWorld article content, any content contributed or collaborated on by members to be published as a content article, or (aka Front Pages content or Front Pages article), in most cases members may not modify that content after publishing. Likewise, in the case of any content that originated elsewhere on the site and is copied to / republished as an article in our article content sections, in most cases members may not modify that content after it has been copied to / republished as an article.

    In all cases of User Contributed Content, CadetWorld reserves the right to prevent a member from editing or removing any contributed content by either restricting the member's editing permissions, locking the content in public view, or by archiving it out of public view. Users should consider that any contributions to CadetWorld may be permanently recorded and published.

    Private Forums / Content Areas

    CadetWorld's site software includes the ability to restrict the viewing of forum sections or content sections to certain members based on any criteria we choose. Message forums with such restrictions are known as "Private Forums." Content areas with such restrictions are known as "Private Content Areas." CadetWorld reserves the right to grant or revoke access to such areas to whatever members we wish, based on whatever criteria we choose. Such criteria shall, in most cases,be made generally known to all members. As with other areas of the site, contributions to these areas are stored in our databases and/or web server and are subject to the same rights and restrictions as public comments and content. CadetWorld reserves the rights and claims to this contributed content as we do to the content contributed to public sections of the website. In most cases, CadetWorld will not republish comments or content from these areas onto other areas or medium.

    CadetWorld cannot prevent any member from copying and republishing a message or content from these areas onto any other public or private medium, electronic or otherwise.

    Users should consider that any messages or content they contribute to these sections may be permanently recorded, downloaded, copied or republished by the recipient(s) on this site or other media. CadetWorld does discourage this practice, and reserves the right to take appropriate action against members who do so, including but not limited to revoking private area access privileges, or account restriction, suspension or termination (aka "banning.")

    Internal Messaging

    CadetWorld's site software includes an internal messaging system which allows members to send messages to other members (aka "private messages" or "PMs.") In the case of member-to-member messages, they are stored in our database until such time as the sender and/or recipient(s) each delete any copies they may have of the message. Such messages are only accessible by the members between whom they are sent and received, with the exception of the senior management of CadetWorld, who reserve the right to access such messages when necessary for the investigation of complaints of or suspicion of harassment or abuse of another member or members, or complaints of or suspicion of the misuse of the website for such purposes of unsolicited advertising or "spam."

    CadetWorld also reserves the right to delete the stored messages of any user for any reason (eg, to free up database storage space.) A mechanism exists within the site software for a member to download messages at any time and store them on their own computer should they wish to keep a permanent copy under their own control.

    CadetWorld cannot prevent any member from copying and republishing a private message onto any other public or private medium.

    Users should consider that message they transmit to any other member may be permanently recorded, downloaded, copied or republished by the recipient(s.)

    Release of Personally Identifiable Information

    CadetWorld will not normally release personally identifying information, except in the following circumstances:

    1. In response to a valid subpoena or other compulsory request from a law enforcement agency or other valid government authority;

    2. With permission of the affected user;

    3. When necessary for investigation of complaints of harassment or abuse of another member or members;

    4. Where the information pertains to page views generated by a spider or bot and its dissemination is necessary to illustrate or resolve technical issues;

    5. Where the user has been persistently behaving in a manner disruptive to this website, data may be released to a service provider, carrier, or other third-party entity to assist in the targeting of IP blocks, or to assist in the formulation of a complaint to relevant Internet Service Providers; and

    6. Where it is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of CadetWorld, its users or the public.

    CadetWorld will not sell or transfer your personal information or email address to any third party for the purposes of contacting you to solicit business, donations or membership.
