What program are you after, precisely? I'm assuming that since you've applied to STU, it's something Arts oriented.

I'm at UNBF, finishing my first degree (BA, Honours History).

I originally applied for Guelph, Carleton, Ottawa, and Memorial. I'm glad I came to Memorial cause they have a really good geology program here (and it's cheaper then any of the others too.) Look at what program you want to do and go with the universities that offer good programs.

I actually want to go into the social work program.. both STU and MUN offer programs... but you need a first year "general arts" to get into the program at STU... but MUN has a pre socail work program. so thats waht i want

I'll be doing year #4 at the UofM for human geography, with a minor in history.

However, these next 2 years will be primarily tech classes (rather than human). GIS, map making, remote sensing, research methods...

someone shoot me...

I'm doing Geology with a minor in Physical geography, the only course I'm doing that's not physical is the Cultural geography course that I have to do for a minor. he rest are GIS, Natural Resources, Remote Sensing, Geomorphology, and such. I figured it fit a geology major better than any other minor.

Three words: Robert Matthew Thususka.

We can't bear being apart now... and that's just two hours. Imagine 8! That's not the only reason, I applied to there last year too... they have my course and I love the campus. Having Rob there would just be the icing on the cake.

I applied at both Concordia and McGill universities, and was going to apply at Queens but just got accepted at Concordia, so I don't have to! :D
If I also get accepted to McGill, then that's where I'll be going. I applied at both with a double major of History and PoliSci.

I only applied to STU. Being in Newfoundland you'd think I would have gone to MUN but I really need to get out of here for a bit. I'm going to take a B. of Arts for now and maybe do some Criminology or Political Science but really I have no idea except that I need to get out of Newfoundland. Plus... STU would get me a better scholarship then MUN (not that it makes much difference with the cost being more). Oh well. Anyways...

Next Year will be 3rd year (already?!?!?) Poli Sci and History at McMaster.

I'm starting to freak out about being half way through my undergrad, and I'm not sure what I want to do really.

Law School, Teachers College, the moon? I have no clue which one I'll end up doing.

A lawyer or a teacher? Those people are slaves to The Man.

Get your undergrad and becomes a McDonald's manager, then open your own store in five years and retire early as a millionaire by time you're 35 or 40. heh, heh. :)

Shout at the Devil dude and hope no one is Smoking in the (Old) Boys Room...heh,heh :)

I've always wondered what it would be like to sell your soul to the Devil...I worked at the mix-executive level and peed in executive toilets. Poop is pretty much poop...even if the guy at the door has soap and wash cloths to wipe your guilt away. ;)

I see a lot of people getting/working at/wanting degrees, but after you spend that much money, what do you want to be?

That's the first question to ask yourself. Higher education is great, and is pretty much required for most fields today, but have an idea of where you're going before you get into something you're unsure about.

What are each of you aiming at as a career/careerS?

I want to eventually be a lawyer or a pilor (or both) but for now my theory is that if I go and egt a degree I'll be ok and Ill find a job doing something so I'm not worried. Just need a degree first as a backup and then to go on to law school.

Is that the 4 year course that you come out with your Master Mariners?

*Jaimie*

I think so.. but i'm not 100% positive. I know the program details and the vast job options that await once I graduate, but as far as the 'Master Mariners' goes, like I said, i'm not really sure.

What you are most likely referring to is the degree program of Master of Maritime Studies. The program he is taking is a three year technology diploma.

There really no such thing as a "Master Mariner" unless of course you are a captain of a commercial vessel or a commercial harbor, of which you are the Master/Captain.

I don't really know how relevant this question is. The intellectual changes that people go through during their time in university are HUGE. Most people's lives change paths rather rapidly, and those who don't often find themselves stuck in a field they decide they hate.

There's no way to decide what you want to do before university for many people. They don't even know what most careers of fields of study really involve.

I say go, expand your mind, and figure stuff out from there. Try to keep as many career related doors open as possible, but don't work towards being one thing.

no no, it is a BA in Law... I am using it to get into a Law School

BA is Law or Law Studies (actual curiosity on my part :)). Just seems odd because your law Degree is a LLB, Bachelor of Law or something to that extent. So most places at "Studies" to the end of degrees to avoid confusion.

Much how like a friend of mine at Western is in "Biomedical Science", not a BSc in Medicine (which could get REALLY confusing once one throws in international degrees, where a MBBS [Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery] is actually a Physician).

Linky (http://www.carleton.ca/cu/ed4life/brochures/law.html)

The closest thing to that at U of A would be the B.Comm in business law, and possibly B.A in political science.

So . . . I got accepted into University of New Brunswick for second year arts and I have already made my all of my deposits, but here comes the ironic part. . . I have lived in Victoria my whole life, and the furthest east in Canada I have ever been is Edmonton and I do not know a single person in Fredericton . . . and to make it even worse I thought New Brunswick was an island untill about a month ago . . . but I'm sure it will be an amazing experience and I am super excited to go after this summer! Hopefully I will meet some new people, find out if anyone I know is going there, get some tips for what to expect, and hope for the best!

Carleton doesn't have much in teh way of graduate studies, if anything. If you go to Carleton for law, I would recommend applying to the U of O for Law School. U of O is very good for graduate studies.

Apply everywhere for Law School, especially if you don't do super ultra well on the LSAT.
