Tuition in Ontario (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ArticleNews/TPStory/LAC/20050209/ONTEDU09/TPEducation/)
For those who are struggling it's a great help, however for those who are a second member of a family attending university at the same time, with parents making barely over the osap maximum, this is going to hit me really hard...
And I thought the point of this was to lower tuition, but then again that was apparently just another of the McGuinty "Fiberal" government lies

You and your anti-Liberal nonsense. Oh Ed.
The cost of living is higher in Ontario ... ergo ... the cost of things will be higher in comparison to other provinces.

Get over it.
Tuition is bound to go up someday... I don't see you paying 50 cents for a decent pair of shoes anymore... it's called inflation.
Same reason teachers seek raises... to keep up with inflation.
As McGuinty said: The only thing is with how quickly it rises. It's not going to be allowed to skyrocket, the universities are not looking to make a profit off of tuition.

Maybe it is! See the latest announcement from Mr. Klein, only two stories down in the Globe:
Alberta freezes tuition. (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20050208.wralphie0208/BNStory/National/)
No, you do not need to adjust your monitor. You read that correctly. So instead of the 5.75% increase I was expecting next year, I get a 0% increase.
:p

The amount and quality of post secondary education, is greater in Ontario than Alberta

That's obvious...there's over 3 times as many people living there! As for quality...you'll have to back that up with something...

Anyway if the tuition is raised, they must also OSAP levels, raise the maximum, cause it will cause an even greater strain on people in my situation

Here we go again...
I guess things would be better with the Purposefully Crappy, whoops I mean Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario.
Ed.. really, the reason our Post-Secondary education is such a mess is because of the Harris Government.
My question is, would you support a tax hike so our tuition could be lower? Or do you support deficit budgets? Neither of which I believe lie in the sphere of 'Conservative' Policies.

I'm paying $0 for tuition and books and I'm quite enjoying it! If anyone wants to pay $0 for their tuition, apply at the Marine Institute in St.John's Nfld for the NCSTTP program through the Navy. It's an all expenses paid diploma in Electronics for 5 semesters. Drop by your local recruiting centre and ask for information about it or stop by the Marine Institute in St. John's and look for the Navy office on the 2nd floor.
P.S I'm also paying only $74 for a 2 bedroom furnished apartment! :o

Did you have to sign your soul over to them? If so, just ask yourself how much you're REALLY paying. ;)

Hey, the Alberta government did it without doing either of those! Of course, after next year, tuition can go up and up for all I care if it means less taxes for me! :p But until then, the government has just saved me $278 next year. :D

I signed my soul to my Queen and Country before I went to the school. All this is extra gravy! The only condition for going to this school is that I sign a 5 year contract. I was going to be in that long and longer anyways, so more power to me! :D

Alberta also has the benefit of Oil Revenues and a smaller population. I'm not chastizing Alberta for having the Oil, its good to see money helping people, I feel strange doing this, but kudos to the Alberta Government, perhaps they can even lower the tution for you guys and gals in Alberta.
Yes, I did just congratulate the Alberta Government (see I'm not 100% partisan). :)

I'm not on the ROTP plan, even though I applied for it a couple years ago. The program I am on is the NCSTTP - I'm not quite sure what it stands for, but you have to get in the Navy as a Naval Electronics Technician (283, 284 or 285). I have been in the Navy for a year last Saturday and finished my basic training last April. I've been going to the school here in St.John's for a couple months now and it's going great. The thing I like about this, is that I'm getting paid to go to school where I get a free diploma all inclusive, not to mention the cheap living expenses. It's a win-win situation. :)
Are you getting into the ROTP plan or just going NCM?

How do u know if you've been accepted into rotp? and when did you hear? It's taken forever to hear anything, or maybe i've been rejected.
