Did someone say old Air Force Songs?
Here's a link from Itazuke.org (http://www.itazuke.org/newmainpage/af801.html) about the song. You're correct about the dating; most popular during the Korean War; made famous by the military folk singer "Oscar Brand" (it's on one of his albums I believe and I think you can find the CD online if you want). Want do you want to know about the song?

Listen to the rumble, and hear old Merlin roar
l'm flying over Moji, like I never flew before
Hear the mighty rush of the slipstream, and hear old Merlin moan ,
I'II wait a bit and say a prayer and hope it gets me home.

Itazuke tower, this is Air Force 801
l'm turning on the downwind leg, I see your biscuit gun
My engine's runnin' ragged, and the coolant's gonna blow
I'm gonna prang a Mustang, so look out down below.

Itazuke tower, this is Air Force 801
l'm turning on the downwind leg, my prop has overrun
My coolant's overheated, the gauge says 1-2-1
You'd better call the crash crew, and get them on the run.

Air Force 801, this is Itazuke tower
I cannot call the crash crew, this is their coffee hour
You're not cleared in the pattern, that is plain to see
So take it on around again, we have some VIP.

Itazuke tower this is Air Force 801,
I'm turnin on my final I'm runnin on one lung,
I've gotta land this Mustang no matter what you say,
I'm gonna get my charts squared up before that judgment day.

Now listen Air Force 801 this is Itazuke tower,
We'd like to let you in right now but we haven't got the power,
We'll send a note through channels and wait for the reply,
Until we get permission back just chase around the sky.

Itazuke tower this is Air Force 801,
I'm up in pilot's heaven and my flying days are done,
I'm sorry that I blew up I couldn't make the grade,
I guess I should have waited till the landing was OK.

Air Force 801, this is Judgment Day
You're in Pilot's Heaven, and you are here to stay
You just bought a Mustang, and you bought it well
The famous Air Force 801 was sent straight down to Hell.

Would anybody be able to write out this tune on music staff for me?

http://www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/song-midis/midi/WABASHCB.midi

I am a drummer, so I dont know how to compose this, The midi is called Aiforce 801, But I belive that the song was called Airforce 801 and the lyrics were added later, or visa versa I dont know the exact orgin.

It is also the same tune as "Wabash CannonBall"

The music would be played on a fife. the band will consist of Fifes and Drums "Tenor drum,Bass Drum, Snare"

I am making some scores to airforce/avation themed tunes

Top Gun Anthem- US Navy but has planes, and dont really feel like argueing if it is sea or air, it is a good popular tune either way,

Snoppy Vs Red Baron

and the one mentioned Airforce 801/Walbash Cannon Ball/Itazuke Tower

Anybody willing to write out the scores for these songs?:notworthy:

I can add a midi of The Topgun Anthem also but I am shure people know what it sounds like

Here is a fife fingering cahrt if that helps at all.
