Thats so rude Kass! People have to listen to me for that reason! I bet you'd probably say that to cadets on an ACT? Yes I can swim! I used to swim for state, then for Australia! I had to stop when I was 4 tho, coz it was interferring with my studies. :(

there are surfers, its just that most people work in australia and dont spend all day surfing.. now in surfing regions you will find a hell of a lot of surfers.. I myself for example, over the summer, i head down to either Rosebud or Gunnamatta with my best friend.. the boyfriend and his mates down to one of the 3 available holiday houses within our families, and spend a week or so living the life of a surfie bum... we get up in the morning around 5am go for a surf/swim/boogie board/snorkel/muck around... at the beach.. head back for breakfast (we draw straws as to who stays back) then head back out to the beach all day...again do the above.. then draw straws again and someone cooks tea.... then we spend the night/evening with a bbq down by the beach and some more mucking around in the water, drinking, smoking what ever takes your fancy... now this only happens for about 5/6 days as then our spending money disapears and our food funds are reduced to nothing.. so we all go back to melbourne.. work our little butts of for about another 2 or 3 weeks and do the same thing.. last year we did it 3 times and even spent new years down there...

dont know the plans for this year though.. but surfing isn't my most favourable activity.. sun baking and playing in the water with the bf is the most favourable... but the boys get out there and try and be as cool as possible until their washed out and the girls are on the shore laughing...

a great deal of fun.. but not committed for a life time of it.. i dont particularly like the rosy cheeks all year round....

Let...

OMG! That sounds like so much fun.

Over summer we just go to the beach most days, usually head out to Byron once or twice a week, and just hang out in the sun. Then we head back and have salad rolls for lunch and stuff. yummmm

I would love to learn how to surf. However I am hundreds of kilometers to the nearest Ocean (Alberta,Canada)

When is the prime surfing season in Australia?

Kass
10th November 2004, 23:58
umm all year round for true surfies. But normally during the winter is prime for competitions.

Lettie
11th November 2004, 19:56
my bf and his play mates are heading to Bali to go 'surfing' in 14 days... (yes i'm counting... pffft yeah right..) but anyway they are gonna scope the globe in the process for great surfing spots...

but on dec 15th we're heading down to Gunnamatta for 8 days... this year we've saved up enough for another 3 extra days... I CAN"T WAIT!

guys it's TS VOYAGER's tri service ball tomorrow night.. so i'm off this weekend.. got soo many things to do.. apart from even begining to get ready tomorrow... yayayayay i cant' wait.. i'm such a GIRL!

Lette..... you can't seriously be putting Rosebud and Surf in the same sentence! Its called wind chop not surf... lol... Portsea, Lorne, Torquay & Bells thats where the decent surf is in Victoria... actually anywhere from Point Lonsdale to Appollo Bay isn't too bad. But Rosebud is on the Bay... its ok when you are 7 and have one of those inflatable bodyboards (my Grandparents have a holiday house at Rosebud spent lots of Xmas hols there as a kid)

Kass
13th November 2004, 22:42
OMG! I love those inflatable body boards. My mum bought my sister one for christmas a few years ago, they are the bomb!

Lettie
14th November 2004, 02:19
hey why dont you go to Gunnamatta then... cos that's where theres surf aswell..

we holiday in rosebud not surf in rosebud... we sit on huge tyre tubes, and wade in the water.. but mainly suntan on the beach in rosebud... i dont know about you.. but i quite enjoy surfing in gunnamatta...

yes i did forget to mention bells and torquey and all that.. sorry guys...

you would have all heard about the bells beach surfing competition... that's the most popular side of the coast.....

i love Lorne though more for holidaying and new years purposes but i love going surfing at Smiths Beach.... tha'ts on the way to Phillip Island...

Bubblehead
14th November 2004, 03:09
gunnamatta isn't too bad... only been there twice though...
you forgot to mention the snapper fishing is great at Rosebud :D

When I was really little I thought Rosebud was the coolest beach... then when I was 9 we went on holidays to Lorne... we never went to Rosebud again without me whinging and complaining.

Body boards are cool until your cover is opened at customs in Bali and they find your weed in there and you have to go play with a firing squad. That sucks.

right cos you would know Dean.. ha ha ha

Lettie
14th November 2004, 04:01
oh forgot to reply to the jerm.. :P

Well actually for me i prefer Rosebud.. i have sooo many memories there... the calm water, the tranquility... the small holiday town feeling...the people .. the holiday houses... the drinking on the beach.. the cricket in the foreshore...Dickson's holiday suite on the foreshore... a huge like 50 man tent with compartments... the memories are the best...

Actually, I was referring to the girl that is in the situation. I guess you haven't been watching the news, or that Melbourne is a bit behind? I'm sure some of the Sydney people know what I mean.

Lettie
14th November 2004, 17:06
No Dean i know exactly what you are talking about.. and how can Melbourne be behind in national news????

i was just making a joke (hence forth the ha ha ha) as when you posted it sounded like you were/have been in that situation....

you obviously didn't get the joke... :) oh well... never mind.
