My PCOC card got wet, and started to peel. I looked into it one day, and found out that CPS will replace them for a cost ($5 or $10 I think). Anyway, call the CPS at 1-888-277-2628 (1-888-CPS-BOAT) to go from there. Let us know how you make out.

Calling the CPS only works if the CPS was where you got the card from in the first place. I have several cards, all from different accredited providers. Try calling the organisation who issued the card, and they can replace it. If not, it's easy enough to take the test again.

The important thing here is the issuing agency. If you still have your temporary certificate from when you first wrote the test (either PCOC or VHF ROC(M)) than the contact information should be on those certs. If they were issued through cadets, request nicely to your CO to have them get in contact with your Regional SCOP OPI there should be some sort of system for replacement.

I did my PCOC and VHF 2 years ago at Quadra and I only recieved my VHF card. By about December...Mabey November, I still did not have my card. So I emailed the contact on www.sailing.ca (http://www.sailing.ca) and send a scanned copy of my PCOC temporary certificate. They sent me a card in 4 weeks.
But then this summer I learned that ALOT of people never did get their PCOC cards, not just me. And we ended up getting the "Cadet" ones this summer. But I, and a few others wern't so lucky. There were alot of errors on it, and so they took them back. I still don't have that cadet one to this day. :o

Mabey you can try telling your CO, or just do what I did.

I don't mean to be the one to state the obvious,

But I would keep that stuff out your wallet unless you need it for a specific reason.

SIN Cards, PCOC, VHF, First Aid Certs, FAC's, Birth Certificates, etc. No need to carry that crap around with you all the time.

Drivers Licence, Bank Card, Health Card, Credit Card is really all you should need on a day to day basis.

I second that. Especially with SIN card, birth certificates, etc. its more than just a nuisance if you lose your wallet, it can be dangerous.

G'day

If you live in central Region and you have lost, damaged, dog ate your PCOC (SCOP MOD 1) or your VHF (SCOP MOD 2) Card, send me a photo copy of the bits if any and of a temporary document/licence if you still have one.

Failing that have your CO write me a letter with all the details and send it to me.

Regional Cadet Support Unit (Central)
CFB Borden
PO Box 1000, Stn Main
Borden, ON L0M 1C0
Att: Lt(N) R. Turcotte, SCOP OPI

I'll have a look at what you send me and in our regional database and will either send you bad news or a new cards.

I have to keep mine in a waterproof water thing that I attach onto my lifejacket because you have to have them on you when your teaching sailing, all CYA inst should know that.
And I know that before I got my waterproof case thing for them I use to always leave them inside the nice "cadet/DND approved" PFD's.
So some ppl have to carry them around..I know I have because Sailing has become my way of life!

I am only taking them if I am going to be on a boat. Whether it be coaching or just my own. There is really no reason to have it in your wallet. ;)

The new cards are waterproof and can be "punched" with a hole punch and put on a lanyard..that's what we're doing anyways :)

Mine survived my last "dunking..." :D

I usually forget to grab mine and leave it in my wallet ashore.....

Or when I do remember it's stuck in one side of my bikini top :p

I think I might just have to consider the lanyard option, provided I'm not going to get arrested for mutilating my cards or something!
