After leaving/retiring from cadets, how many of you actually still keep in touch with friends from old units or past camps? I pretty much keep in touch with as many as I can, even though we rarely talk, I know ow to get a hold of them.......what about everyone else?

I've been real bad with this over the past year. I didn't really stay in touch with anyone while I was away travelling and now that I'm home I just keep putting it off, not sure why.

Not a whole lot, that's for sure. Only the best ones will stay with you. Let's go through my MSN list and see who from cadets/camps I still talk to! :D

- Marleau (he was from my squadron and was a cadet of mine at camp)
- Jonathan Leard (was my squadron commander now an officer at the same unit)
- Adam Robitaille (best friend from band camp, came to visit me at university last year)
- Normie McInnis (we were in the same squadron, now he's an officer there)
- Adam Cruickshank (on tattoo together in 2000)
- Robin Gavlas (we were puffy dress pals at camp and were on tattoo together)
- Christine Moncrief (best friend I've made through cadets, going to see her in 6 days)
- Sonya Giles (she was a cadet at camp when I was on staff, but not one of my cadets)
- Erin O'Toole (she was my cadet at camp and then we did staff together)
- Adriana Bezanson (although she's not on my MSN, she was my staff cadet and we are in school together, she graduates this year though)

Every once in a while I'll run into people that I've done course or staff with when I'm at band concentrations, but I don't talk to them otherwise. All in all, I'd say you loose 1/2 of your friends after you don't see them over a summer. Rises each year.

ya......the guys I mostly keep in touch with are the ones that I've known for a while, or who I spent a lot of time with at camps....I still remember the others, and once in awhile we do chit chat with each other....

I talk to a couple people from the old corps... and once in a while those from camps... but not really though

I talk more with my new college friends

I haven't talked to anybody outside of CW, really. Taylor Evans gave me a shout when he got into the CF as a pilot, and that's pretty much it. Occasionally, I see somebody walking around campus wearing an SLC sweater or with an RGS crest sewn to their backpack or something and if I'm killing time, I'll go up and talk to them.

I talk to some of my closest friends but my unit was through school and the annual reunions and contact lists help a great deal in staying in touch.

Im just now finally recieving contact lists from summers past. Now, I keep in touch with alot of the old crowd from way back. Its always interesting to see whats happened to the people you went on course with and worked with. They're all unique and very interesting. It was also nice to know that to soem extent, I was remembered.

- Adriana Bezanson (although she's not on my MSN, she was my staff cadet and we are in school together, she graduates this year though)I knew Adriana, she was a warrent officer in my sqn when I was a wee one :)

But as for keeping in touch... I keep in touch with pretty much all the senior NCO's from my sqn, because we're all good friends.

I keep in touch with a few people. But it's not much really. A conversation now and then. I mostlytalk to my university friends now. I should contact some old friends soon, after exams are done, see how they're doing.

- Marleau (he was from my squadron and was a cadet of mine at camp)
Not to mention the bearer of the new old rusty the hacksaw! And purveyor of amputations at a bush camp near you.

lets see now. I chat with jgallagher all the time on msn (met him at Tattoo 2000, his brother was in same drill team as me), my friend Cindy Landry (made her join cadets, go to school together), and just anyone else I may run into while wandering around town between classes.
and I can't forget Josh Stennett and our little chat sessions on msn every once in a blue moon. met him at Greenwood in summer 2000.
I somehow lost contact with just about everyone from 101 after I aged out last summer. not as much in common, so there is hardly ever anything to talk about any more.

*cough*.. *cough*... *COUGH* Hahaha.. JK :D

Let's see, people from camp/old corps that I still talk to (MSN):
-Matthew Marleau (I mean really, what would a day be like without Tumor)
-BL MacLean (When I was TG3 and she was on staff, I said and I quote "I knew PO MacLean sounded funny!")
-Alicia Burke (ahh, my air buddy who bounces back and forth between Greenwood and Acadia)
-Jocelyn Shaw (did staff together this year, we're great friends! :D)
-Caleigh Macdonald (did course and staff together, she's my tree hugger)
-Monique Lewis (She was an officer at the bandhouse for two years I was on course, band admin isn't the same without her!)
-Liz Duplain (she's at university with me!)
-Mandy Richardson (I see her atleast twice a week, funny considering on TG2 I didn't like her :o )
-Matthew King (althought I haven't seen him since I did TG2 and he came to Acadia for Honour Band, we have drifted but we still talk)
-Michael King (don't really talk much anymore but we did staff and course together)
-Dane Colombe (did 3 years of course together and then staff, we don't call each other bro and sis for nothing  )
-John Hadjigeorgiou (my staff and milkshake buddy)

Ok, I made my point.. LOL I'm going to stop now, I could keep going.. but there isn't much point! Haha.. so basically I do still talk to a lot of people from camps and such. And I'm glad about that.. I hate losing touch!

hmmmm, I was just sitting here, thinking of everyone I knew in cadets, and this is the list that I came up with that I still talk to

Chris Dech - he and I joined the same time, and were on course together one year
Michel Desgrossillers - I knew him from my first year, and now he's at my old corps as a band officer
Meg Harris - hit and miss, we're both super busy, but I was on GT with her and Gunz 2 as well
Doug Campbell - He haunts me
Marc Savoie - he also haunts me, but that's alright
Melanie Laneville - one of my first div kids, she's the cox'n at my old corps
Bryan Paakkonen - guy I met at staff, he and I talk SO often, it's not funny

and that's all I can think of for now .. I's too sleepy to try and think of more

From my 6 years as a cadet, and my 2nd year as an officer..ive made alot of friends..I still keep in contact with the cadets that I taught when i was GT staff @ Ontario, and the friends i made on course(GT, Gunz1 @ the Q, Gunz2 @ On, and the cadets i met in Japan) and the cadets i taught last summer on ITPERTC... I must say the friends i made in cadets, they must be the most considerate, kind and wonderful people I have ever had the privillege to meet..so instead of naming names..you know who you all are..and youve all made a lasting impact on my life...drop me a line..

Well, really to me i tried to keep in touch with e-mails and msn and yahoo, but not everyone has them. I am the southern most part of Canada, and most of my friends are too far away to go viste. As the years go on i drift away from my Basic camp friends and find my self hangin on to the latest friends(who i am in touch with most of them). But i will always remember my years before when i meet good friends and spend weeks together 24/7 and now i dont even talk to them (too much lovin for 2/3/6 weeks).

Sadly enough, I haven't kept in touch with anyone... :( but I want to, so I figured here is a good place to start.

Band Staff, Senior, Acadia, 1997

I already met one guy I know just tonight (I just joined the forum tonight) from my squadron, 652 Milford. I aged out in June 1998. In case it helps, my name is Angela McGann, was sorta known in Acadia band as Sgt Stacatto, because I'm short! :)

Here's a picture of me back then... http://www.geocities.com/mencalinan/pictures/jul1mrch.gif

And a more recent (and clearer) one:http://artisans-showcase.org/east/artists/a_h_000013/portrait.jpg

If anyone remembers me, feel free to message or email me, as I'd love to renew old friendships... most notably, I'm looking for the following people:
David Brister from the home squadron.
Aaron Bourgeois, was in 101, I think.
Deke (Derek) from around Fredericton
Fred (Doughy) from Peticodiac
Kelly Preeper

That's all I can remember for now. Thanks for any help. :D

I am still in contact with the Commanding Officer of the Young Marines Detachment I was a member of. We hardly talk as I dont think he seems to care about me. Other than that I dont have contact with anyone. I am trying to get into contact with my old Sea Cadets Unit. I am considering re-joining. :mcd:

You didn't mention me and I'm your favorite cadet there Sgt :p

I am correct to assume you have now aged out? If so we are looking for CI staff in the new to stand up RCSCC Chilliwack with the intent of developing the CI's into officers. We can be contacted directly at chilliwackseacadets@yahoo.ca or the corps phone 604-858-1137.
