That is right. Today she was sentenced to 5 months in jail including 5 months house arrest. Jail never looked so pretty. Though she is out until the appeal goes through. Shows what money and celeberty status can get you.

and she'd get a worse sentence... unless she was in Canada, where this sentence would be the norm...
Just think what she did earned half the sentence of what those people who kept their adopted children caged routinely for 13 years...

Good Lord, you mean there is someone still left in this world who hasn't yet been bombarded with TV Maven goes to jail news?
Anyways, turns out Mz. Stewart was guilty of obstructing justice in a investigation into wrongful (read: insider) trading. She got five months in jail, five months suspended sentence or house arrest or something-or-other, and a bunch of hours of community service...
Fun stuff, and that's a good thing!

I know she did something wtong, but in comparison to other guys who did a lot worse and got hardly any punishment, her sentence is kind of ridiculous. There are head guys who lost countless millions and spent a lot of their employees pensions. And those people can't get their money back!

I read something similar over here about this big stock market dude (rene Rifkin for those Aussies), who got done for insider trading.
Now the media has mad him out to be abig baddy, but I read some interesting points of view saying he only got the sentence he did get (weekend detention for however long NB I think he only ever served one weekend before he complained of medical resons to stay out of jail etc) was more than other people in the same situationwould have got, just to make him an example case, because people know them.
