If the contracted flying schools are the same as last year you're more likely to end up in Steinbach or St. Andrew's. It's because of the need for male/female supervisory officers so they send all the female cadets (and a few males) to one place and males to the others. Usually Penhold is for all the females and some of the males because its easier for supervision that way. So, if you look at it from a standpoint of the number of male positions, most of them are at St. Andrew's & Steinbach with Harv's Air Service. (If its the same as last year. In 2007 the Regina Flying Club got the contract instead of Sky Wings in Penhold and all the females+ "extra" males were sent to Steinbach.)

Anyway, good luck with the selection exam/boards Ben, I'm sure you'll do fine.

Cadets from Eastern Region write PPS and GPS exams on 7 Feb 09. Those who pass the exam stay for interviews in the afternoon. Cadets applying for IACE, SLC, Oshkoch do their interviews in the morning.

Patience Young Grasshopper-Eater ... Patience....

Late March to Mid April-ish. You will likely get a letter of acceptance and instructions from CRGS before your CO finds out. Just seems to always work like that.

actually, not to the cadet or the CO. You find out which one you will be sent out to when you get an email from the center's CFI, once you get your joining instructions, or your travel orders. it all varies in every region. I found out from the CFI.

I've been informed that both Cadet's and CO's are informed of selections on the same date. It is not the fault of RGS if a cadet finds out before a CO. In Central Region, Glider and Power selections were announced by e-mail at midnight on 13/14 Mar 09. Emails are sent simultaneously from RCSU to the COs' CadetNet accounts, and by the League (OPC) to the Sqn Director and Sponsor Chair. These individuals are supposed to decide upon a mutually aggreeable time to jointly announce the results to the cadet(s). The CO should always know well in advance of the cadet, except perhaps in the event of a substitution that occurs late Jun/early July. PPS FTU locations won't be decided until later, when flightsuit size and weight info comes in from selected cadets and aircraft assignment can be made. This year, the centres include Brampton, Durham (Oshawa), Toronto City Centre (Island), Waterloo (NFA) and Windsor.

Thank you VERY much sir for the updated info. It seems as though the power quota has risen due to the increase in flight schools. Would you happen to know which of these flight centres are co-ed?

Thank You Sir.

It depends very much on the track record of the centre, the better the SSO rates the centre chances are there will be more cadets going there, it also depends on the ability of the centre to train you, more A/C and more instructors means more cadets it can push through. we had 24 at DFC last year.:airsalute:

St. Andrews has had bad weather for a while (probably proximity to Gimli jinxing us ) but we are getting along, if a little slow at times. TC tomorrow, so at least a little extra time for studying. Our fourth Supervisory Officer (if you count Major Cameron's day here) is Army CIC, but he's all right. Our usual S.O. is in hospital right now, likely for at least a week.

Our Supervisory Officer in St. Andrew's is now back to work, as are we after a few days of poor weather. Most of our X-country flights are done and a few of us are doing our pre-flight test checks.
