These men with white hair, canes and hearing aids were little more than boys when they battled in places like Italy and the beaches of Normandy.
But on Friday, they stood as straight as the soldiers they once were to give Defence Minister Peter MacKay a standing ovation after he announced the reactivation of their old regiment.
"The Halifax Rifles are, remain and will be an important part of Canadian history," the MP for Central Nova said, looking directly at the men at two tables.
"It’s only appropriate that they can proudly defend Canada once again."

Finally my former cadet unit will have its appropriate affiliated unit back, and not PLF they've been attached to for far too long.
