Hello former cadets,
If you are like me, you missed cadets after you left. Now I know some people decide to go CIC or to the Canadian Forces afterwards but if you don't and are looking for some group to be apart of St John Ambulance is a great group to join. I joined St John Ambulance recently and I enjoy wearing a uniform again, being around people who share a common interest, and being an active member of the community. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with St. John Ambulance you can get on their website, choose the branch nearest to where you live and then you can fill out an application form online and someone will be in contact with you soon giving you information about the division in your area. It is a great organization to be involved with and a lot of former cadets I know who have joined really enjoy it.

St John Ambulance is a fantastic organization with a rich history, not only in Canada, but world wide. I often wish that my schedule allowed me to participate again. While you are there be sure to get your instructor rating (They used to call it NITDP (or Nit-Dip)) as it is a skill that will provide you with many opportunities as well as some funds for school.

What does it mean to "join" St John Ambulance? What's your function there, and what sort of time commitment is involved?

Same question. I'm looking to upgrade my LSS Lifesaving Instructor (Can teach EFA, CPR A,B, and C) to a SJA First Aid Instructor (so I teach SFA...etc), and I wanted to know how much time it takes, whether I get credits for my LSS stuff, etc.

In the time it took to type the question, you could have found the info using Google.

My mistake, I thought this was a forum for discussion. Thanks for your input!

Asking questions on an internet forum that could easily be answered elsewhere is wasting bandwidth.

Now, if you were to ask specific pros and cons to joining SJA, then that's a discussion.

My question was, what is Gemma Johnson's function at SJA, and what sort of time commitment is required of her. I can read a website as well as you can, so unless you have some personal experience to contribute, I invite you to stop crapping up this thread.

Another great organization I started working with is Youth For Christ.

We have Youth Centre's All over Canada and the USA. It is a great way of community involvment and it is worth your time.
