the first digit is wat level like level 1,2 or 3. The second is the amount of credits awarded for passing this course and the last 2 digits are to recognize what they are like basic math is 06 academic is 04 and advanced is 05

i find it easier than your way but it's what i'm used to... and ya in NL high school is Grade 10, 11, and 12 which is level 1, 2, and 3... also we get 2 credits per course because we need 36 credits to graduate.. although if we pass all 7 courses each year we accumulate 42 credits

I haven't been in high school for some time, but when I went, my school used the numbers one thru four. One referred to Grade 9 and four referred to Grade 12.

There were letters that followed it to show what level the class was at.

Under the old curriculum in Ontario, we have Advanced, General and Basic.

I always took advanced courses, so a Grade 12 advanced math course would look like MAT 4A1.

Grade 9s didn't get a choice as to what level their courses would be at. They were all labelled 1WO. So a Grade 9 Math class looked like MAT 1WO.

We needed at least 30 credits (which ledft room for two spares in grade 12 - providing you passed all your classes), but I never had the literacy test or the community service requirement.

I also had OAC (Ontario Academic Credit), which is now non-existent. I was actually in the last class to graduate that had the opportunity to take OAC. We needed six OACs to be able to go to university. Now six 4U courses are required. All OAC courses were labelled OA1. Eg. OAC english looked like ENG OA1. It's too bad OAC was taken out. It was a really great program.

ohh wow !
so you dont have a grade 9?

and we only need 30 credits to graduate, and its 18 compulsary credits, and 12 optionals...we also have to pass the grade 10 literacy test and complete 40 community service.

so far i have 8 credits, well pretty much, I know I didnt fail any of my classes!
and I have about 15 hours community service.. and they recommend 10 a year so im over for this year! but as for both, and the litaracy test, still got a while to go, and I have 3 years to do it!

yeah its like that now kind of...
but locally developed is LD
applied is PR
and academic is DR

nexy year I have acacemic (or advanced if you go by that system) everything except math which I have applied.

When I started grade 9 we got to pick what level we wanted to and I took all applied, that was what my teacher recommended, and I got to highschool, jus finished grade 9 and now I switched to academic because applied was way to easy and all my teachers recommended that I switch.

I guess grade 10 could to !

All courses through highschool count when it comes to post secondary education !

I really have not decided what I would like to do when I get older, theres so many options !
I think I would like to get into something with Science or health...not to sure yet though !
But then again, I have another three years to decide !

I am planning to get into Criminology/Criminal Justice when I graduate. I wanto to take Crim. Justice at University of Winnipeg and double major in Criminal Justice and Psychology. When I'm done university, I'm planning on going RegF as an MP officer, but if that doesn't work out, I'm planning on either joining the RCMP or working as a Corrections Officer or a Parole Officer for Corrections Canada. I know that I want to get into Law Enforcement when I'm done high school.

First semester : My marks were :

Health/Gym : 77% (pretty good for two months ... broken leg)
English : 70% (teacher lost a lot of my work:mad:)
Instrumental Music : 83%

my parents were pretty pleased with my marks this year from what my grade 8 teacher said to me last year !

And once you get to grades 11 and 12, it becomes University, College, or Workplace.

I don't know my schedule yet, but I know what courses I have. Just not when.

Gr 12 University Chemistry
Gr 12 University Physics
Gr 12 University English
Gr 12 Religion (yay for Catholic school!)
Gr 12 University Advanced Functions
Gr 12 University Calculus (sp?) and Vectors
Gr 12 Instrumental Music

I also have one spare...

At my school, religion and music are open so there is no university, college, or workplace specification.

in Grade 10 academic classes i only ever had homework in math if yuou didnt finish.

So far my schedule is;

First Semester:
Grade 10 Open Robotics
Grade 10 Open Instrumental Music
-Currently no third period due to waiting list for Computer Engineering-
Grade 10 Academic History

Second Semester:
Grade 10 Open Vocals
Grade 10 Academic Science
Grade 10 Academic Math
Grade 10 Academic English

I'm psyched for first semester but not so much second. My goal this year is a 90% average because I made honours last year doing as little as possible in my classes. For my third period it's going to stick with Computer Engineering if it opens up, or I'm trying for guitar or grade 11 photography. I might even go for grade 11 natural disasters? Oh, and FYI: I don't have careers and civics because I took it this year in place of an elective so I'd have an extra elective this year. Hence why there is four rather then three.

Usually, it changes,
Guidance is not allowed to give more then 2 optionals in one semester, and then the level classes in the other semester. They want it all balanced so students arent stressing about exams and all, I had mine and had to make a guidance appointment to fix it. And they made me change it all around.

This year, I'm taking :

Senior 2 (Grade 10) :

Senior 3 (Grade 11) :

So here are my classes, as it stands. I am still on the waiting list for computer engineering first semester, third period, which I am hoping for. The original change consisted of my second period elective in second semester being moved to first semester, third period and my science there was moved to the second period in second semester. Then my elective was filled with me being on the waiting list and I was hoping someone would switch out by this week and no one did.

So then, I switched back my elective and science, and I'm stuck with Grade Ten Business until the waiting list opens up.

LUNCH B

my last class for second semester, I am on a waiting list for Instrumental Music which is full, so I doubt I will get into it :(
So It will most likely end up being a grade 11 course in something, not sure what yet tho, but that was guidances idea, and me and parents both like the idea !

and next year for a course I am applying for, GeoStudies, is a pretty hard course to get into, kinda like glider or power, but for school.
I have to write a 3000 word essay saying why I would like to take it, and why I would be a good student for it.
I have absolutley NO idea where to start !!!!!!!!
But I am really crossing my fingers for it !
I am going to start on the essay within the next week or so, that way it will be done and I am hoping to take it to my english teacher to get it edited ! :D

LUCKY !
I want to get into music so much, but they only let at the most 30 students in it for any class and the course I want to take next year, its all day everyday only lets 30 kids in it all around, so thats only 30 kids a semester !

Semester 2:
Academic Math (10)
History(10)
Career Studies(10)
Civics(10)

Our Instrumental music program has half of our school in it which is 150 people. (our school is a small country school of 300) I am in the biggest class with 45 people, up to 55, because of the people who come in from other classes whan they finish their work. Our music room is only made to hold 30 people so we really have to squish.

my last class for second semester, I am on a waiting list for Instrumental Music which is full, so I doubt I will get into it :(
So It will most likely end up being a grade 11 course in something, not sure what yet tho, but that was guidances idea, and me and parents both like the idea !

and next year for a course I am applying for, GeoStudies, is a pretty hard course to get into, kinda like glider or power, but for school.

I GOT INTO MUSIC !:):woot::p
