About fifty years after my Cadet days ended, there was a knock at the door. the last time I saw the face at the door was in 1956. We had been Cadets in Haida at Toronto. We dated the same girls (Sea Rangers) went to the same dances, saw the same shows and lived in each others pockets. A close relationship whick for various reasons dwindled. He had lost some photos that we both had copies of and wanted to borrow mine to make copies. To make the tale shorter, let me say we spent the next six or seven hours telling tales and lying to eachother, a jolly time. As he was leaving he remarked, "It's too bad the others in our past couldn't experience our joy of reunion". WHY NOT, says I. In 1962 I and some others had held a reunion in Toronto of our fellow Cadets and 143 showed up. WHY NOT AGAIN?. As the RCSCC and Navy League dont maintain any records, we had only misty memories of those we wanted to contact. Over the next few weeks we found about sixty names and tracked them down. Thank God for the Internet. In 2003 we gathered 150 people for a reunion in our old Barracks at Haida which is a Royal Canadian Legion Branch today. The siccess was overwhelming and we formed The Toronto Sea Cadet Alumni Association. This body started with the original Corps in the Toronto area of the 40's and 50's. It has since expanded to many other areas and has members from all over North America and a member in Aostralia. We keep close watch on thr GTA Corps and assist as required. For information on our endeavor, This is our address.
