If you are using Windows XP, install the free Image Resizer Powertoy (http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe) from Microsoft.

It enables you to resize individual or multiple image files by right clicking on them, and selecting Resize Image.

Well, it's a little complicated, but here's how to do it in MS Paint (If you don't feel inclined to install the program Lt(N) Deck offered):

Open your file in Paint

Select "Image", and click on "Stretch/Skew"

Input horizontal and vertical values which are equal, and smaller than 100%

Use the square select tool, and select a square area (what you want your pic to be) of no more than 120 x 120 pixels (it will show the dimentions in the bottom right hand corner of the screen)

Move the square to the top left corner of the picture

Bring the edges in until only the square you chose is visible

And save! ;)

If the file is a Bitmap, you'll want to save it as a GIF, JPG, or PNG to stay under the size limit.

If you are using Windows XP, click the link I pasted above and install the Image resizer program. It is an easy, fast way to resize images. All you need to do then is find the picture on your computer, right-click it, and choose Resize Picture. It will give you some pre-set sizes to choose from, or you can click the ADVANCED button, choose a Custom size, and type in whatever size you want. Set that for 120 x 120, and click OK. That's it, all done. Then upload that to your profile.

Another option: there are dozens of websites that will do free image resizing. Here's one:

http://www.resizeimage.4u2ges.com/index.asp

Just upload the image, select the size you want, click the process button, and then save the new pic. Word of caution: the re-sized pic will have the same file name, so be sure to add "_small" to the name so you don't save over your original, or save the smaller one to a different directory, etc.

If you have any type of corel program (like photo paint), you can resize it there.
Open the image, go to Image, and then resample. Change the units to pixels, and change it to 120x120. It's not that difficult.

You can even do it in Microsoft Photo Editor, which should be the default program for pictures for XP Home, unless changed of course. For all intesive purposes, you could even use paint :p

Which was pointed out elequontly by Pyro in post 10 above.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks, I'm sure that members will see plenty of options for photo resizing now.
