This isn't about what type of Helicopter we'll be getting, it's about if we'll be getting them any time soon.

Well, if he cancells, no biggie...the CF is just down another half billion dollars. And whats the matter with losing a few good men? I mean, its not like they have families or anything...and come on! With a fighting force of just under what...750,000? We can afford them...we just have 33 Naval ships to man...and its just lives at stake....
...in case you didn't pick up, I was being sarcastic.
The Canadian Forces, once again, looks like its going to get the shaft. I pray to God almighty that it doesn't. Them helicopters would be nice...
And the Sea Kings DO deserve a spot in the Museum of Aviation. Look at the service they and their flight crews and pilots have given this country! They are old and in shambles, but still have great honour and history that we NEED to preserve. Further service, and that might not be possible.

Not good. If he cancelles it the military is in serious trouble. It doesn't sound like he's questioning the need for a new naval helicopter, but more like he's questioning the present government's procedure for tendering and awarding the contract. I'll bet he suspects that the whole process is a sham to award the contract to a company that the government has already chosen for political reasons.

Woo Merlins rock, i think the stats are clear, 10 deaths on a 40 year old fleet. i think that speaks for itself
and merlins are the coolest helicopters ever,

They aren't under consideration. It's either the Comorant or a Sikorsky, not sure which.
If they put the Sea Kings in the museum that means 51's flag party has someting else to dip under! Painful! :(

Comox already has three Cormorants at their base that are replacing the Sea Kings.

AT the moment the comorants are replacing the labradors. They haven't decided what they will replace the sea kings with.

I asked this before (And I got an answer, just can't remember it :o ) With the Cormorant, I heard it was too big for the ships we have. (Well, not so much the ships, but the hangers)

That is quite the coinky-dink (koo-ink-e-dink) :p
Do they fit on Coast Gaurd vessels? (Or do CG vessels even do that type of thing?)

If Harper gets into office, he should buy whatever the present gov't has committed to.
It doesn't even matter what the best chopper is anymore. If it's new, and it works (I believe both contenders have been proven), it's better than a Sea King.

The comerant isnt replacing the Sea-Kings, The candidates are:
1. Sikorsky Aircraft Corp, which hopes Canada opts for tradition as it built the Sea Kings. Sikorsky is trying to sell Canada its S-92s, a medium-lift utility helicopter inspired by the company's Black Hawk and Seahawk designs.

2. European Helicopter Industries also has a history with Canada. It is made up of GKN Westland and Agusta, which joined forces in the 1980s to find a replacement for the Sea King. This is the company that won, then lost, the 1992 deal, promising 50 of its EH-101 helicopters. EH recently won a contract to supply Canada with 15 Cormorant search-and-rescue helicopters.

3. Eurocopter, which has several designs, including the Cougar, which is equipped for both warfare and rescue missions.

But looks are good. If you land into battle with this big bum helicopter, with guns coming out of its ying yang, and it's got some kick bum leather seats, I think the enemy might be like 'wow'. And then you take them by surprise, while they're checking out your ride, :P.
Like if cop cars were Vipers and porches, who'd mess with the cops? Car chases would become rarer(cuz cops could keep up, and easily pass suspects cars), if you shot a cop car, you'd have one hell of a fine, and the cops would beat you to a pulp, and it'd be really kick bum to see a police officer pull up in a Porche in Harlem. :P! Builds team pride...right..:p

lol...that reminds me. there's a police force in italy that uses lambrogini's as cruisers. the company accuay donated the cars to the force so that the could catch all those ferrari's...lol
