Yesterday, they found the body of B.C. artist, Toni Onley. Toni Onley was a awesome water colour artist and he died in a float plane accident near Maple Ridge, B.C. almost three months ago. His name was just released today and my deepest sympathies to his family and friends and fellow artists. The following is an article from the Province newspaper:

MAPLE RIDGE, B.C. - Ridge-Meadows RCMP say a body found in Maple Ridge Tuesday is that of renowned B.C. watercolourist Toni Onley, whose plane crashed and sank into the Fraser River nearly three months ago.

Onley's body was discovered by the operator of a log boom Tuesday morning at the south end of 224th Street in Maple Ridge.

Ridge-Meadows RCMP Insp. Janice Armstrong says the recovery site was about three kilometres from the location of the crash.

No specific cause of death will be determined until the coroner service completes an autopsy being conducted today.

Onley was practicing "touch-and-go" manoeuvres in his float plane on the Fraser River Feb. 29 when he lost control and crashed. He was 75 years old.

He was a lifelong pilot who often went into remote locations in search of vistas for his famed watercolours.

Onley, a recipient of the Order of Canada, has work in private collections and galleries around the world. A selection of his paintings are the subject of a memorial show on until May 30 at the Winchester Galleries in Victoria.
