Every school I have been to has had tunnels. It seems that someone had to give the Engineering students something to do.

If you end up choosing STU - feel free to ask me any questions. I'm assuming history is your intended major for now? Once you get a year under your belt you may change your mind so be open to many options and try a lot of things. If you do history at STU though - Do NOT take Professor Luc Walhain. PM me if you have already applied for his courses and want to know why I say not to. For a general idea - I am an A student and have A's in every course except history (my best subject in high school) in which I have a C. Everyone else is the same way.

Yup, most gals to guys in the country (84 to 18 or something like that according to Mcleans). The PR program is supposed to one of the only english speaking ones of its kind in this country. It is apparently good.

Pretty much the atmosphere is why I applied there too. Unfortunatly, the problem with smaller schools is they don't offer a huge variety of courses... So I settled on Dal, its not as big as most universities (10,000, most 'large universities are considered around 20,000).

Actually U of T is in three campuses: St. George, Scarborough, and Mississauga (formerly Erindale). It has eight full time Arts and Science colleges UC, VIC, St. Mike's; Trinity, New, Innis, Scarborough, and Mississauga. One part time Arts and Science college, Woodsworth. However if you are in Arts and Science at St. George you will be lumped with the rest, so yes the numbers are intimidating, but the end result is you can enjoy a mix of experiences. By the way my first year psych course was 1,500.00 students alone.

If you go outside the province, then that doesn't apply to you.

Not entirely accurate. Acadia has the same program that they were talking about (as does St FX) where you do two years before going to do your engineering degree. I have friends who have finished their two years here with their CAS (Certificate in Applied Science) and then gone on to out-of-province engineering schools (such as McGill or UofT) although most will go to UNB or Dal.
The way the program works is that if you have a 'C' average, you are guaranteed admission to Dal or UNB engineering (at least, that is the case for Acadia students with their CAS).

However, I will have to make my mind up soon. If you eventually are thinking Law School in Ottawa, I would, personally, advise against going there for your undergrad. Half the fun of your undergrad is that its 4 years in one location, then you get to move on. If you do your undergrad and your law degree at the same place, you're talking 7 years in one place. Considering that this is the time to travel/see the world, it would make more sense to do it elsewhere.
From a more pragmatic standpoint, a smaller school might also be a not-too bad idea. You can get great letters of recommendation, because your profs have a better chance to get to know you, and it is easier to get involved in leadership activities on campus.
That's just my one, brief, standpoint though :)

Wow, I cant believe that I've misread a career description over and over again... :banghead:
It turns out radiology is more of operating the machine than diagnostics (which i thought it was in the first place), so i feel it's not as much as a challenge. If i was to go into diagnostics, thats 4 years undergrad plus 4 years medical school plus 5 years residency.
Good thing I had so many Plan B's, C's, and D's to begin with. And I finally got it all planned out (and it's not gonna change :p). It's Physiotherapy or Pharmacy at U of M, although i have to take first year sciences beforehand.

I've had the plan of pursuing a career as a physics teacher. I have to take a B.Sc and a B.Ed, so I decided that UNB is my best option (Queen's or U of M are my secondary options if all else). Six years ^^, it isn't too bad, but I know I'll be repaying the loans to my grave  .
For those of you who want to be teachers, you can take a test and start your cocurrent program right away at UNB, that way you can bring it down to only five years. For most cocurrent students though, an undergrad is impossible to avoid, unless you prove you can handle the two degrees at one time.

I'm at Nipissing University in North Bay; I applied through OUAC. I'm going through for Criminal Justice, specifically for Corrections.
What's interesting with this particular stream within the program is that you spend 3 out of four years at Nip taking law and justice, sociology, (etc) classes, then another year at Canadore College taking their Correctional Worker Program. So, when all's said and done, you graduate with both a degree AND a diploma.

A concurrent degree sounds great, but virtually every person I know that took that program at UNB hated it and had nothing positive to say. From what I've heard, the consecutive option, though a year longer, is better. That said, you don't have to do your BEd at the same place as your undergrad, so it can't hurt to see what else is available. PM me if you want some particulars on the UNB BEd, I spent some time in that program.

A concurrent degree sounds great, but virtually every person I know that took that program at UNB hated it and had nothing positive to say.
I really don't know anything about UNB, but I'm currently in the Concurrent Education Program (1st year) at Trent. It has its ups and downs. Major downer: money. I'm paying almost an extra thousand dollars (per year) in tuition...which is killing my bank account. It is also extra work (since you're doing an extra degree), and it feels somewhat useless at times. Major upside: we don't have to jump through as many crazy hoops to get into the consecutive program (from what I've heard talking to some consecutive students, who were saying how it's crazy competitive...keep in mind that this is all hearsay). So I don't know, I know some people here who think it's the best thing since sliced bread, and others who think it's a total scam... I fall somewhere in between.
History gets easier.
Honestly?? 'Cause that would be fantastic since I like it a lot already, and if it gets easier, all the better!!:D

I am most likely going to be attending uOttawa in Fall 2008. I am torn right down the middle between two programs...
1. International Studies and Modern Languages
2. Translation.
Both are very interesting, and are very useful with high employment rates after graduation. :banghead: I'm torn.

I know someone from when I was at OttawaU that's just finishing up her Translation program. PM me for the contact info if interested :)
- I was in Intl stud & Lang. for a semester and I found that I wasn't doing much of poli science in first year (which is a craving of mine), with this program you learn one language and you need a proficiency in french (OttawaU policy I believe).

I heard that trough some grapewine but I didn't confirm it. Did they they also changed their motto of: "Canada's university" ?
...Apparently not...What do they have against Carleton now?
- RMC is the only university in Canada now that requires a proficiency in both official languages.

I have a feeling that has more to do with the fact that the CF requires a certain second language proficiency for its RegF Officers than because it's specifically a bilingual university.

I'm more saying that by sheer pride than anything else. Too bad they took that out from the requirements tough, it was giving them more an identity.

2. UNBC (ROTP)-Political Science and Womens Studies (If I don't ROTP, I will probably go to UNBC anyways, but do my Poli Science and Womens Studies degree then get a BEdu in secondary education).

Well Carleton was one of the first ones I looked at(plus they offer big scholarships). However, I am looking more into different universities and their admissions and all that.
My list could change.

Applying to university in Ontario just makes me want to kick my face in for not working harder in Grade 11. >.< Applications are due January 9th, so they won't have any idea how awesome I've been this year!
Does anyone know where the $105 goes when you apply through OUAC? I was thinking about it earlier... it's all done online, so I would think the administration fees would be considerably less (I'm also a bit grumpy because I'm paying $40 just to apply to Memorial).
Here's my list:
1 - Bachelor of International Business @ Carleton
2 - Bachelor of Business Administration @ Memorial
And I'll have two others in Ontario, once I look into it some more. Most definitely business-related, and hopefully in some sort of marketing concentration. I feel like I've sort of betrayed myself, though... I had my whole life set up to go to Memorial, but I was looking through Carleton's programs today, and I've fallen in love!
The competitive scholarships (that is, they will fight with other universities) are really appealing, as well.

This year at UBC, they had a projected $35 million deficit, and one of the proposed "countermeasure" was to increase the registration fees. So, I think the money just goes to the university's coffers. It only gets worse when you try to apply to grad schools, my friend is going to spend $1000 on registration fees and entrance tests alone (He's thinking of applying to ~10 schools!!).

Wow, I guess things have changed since I applied to university. I think I paid $80 or something like that to apply to any three universities, and then it was an extra $30 or something like that per university afterwards.
$270 to apply to university? Crazy!

All my friends are complaining about having to spend $40 to apply to MUN and I'm like you all suck! I have to spend like $270 to apply to UOttawa & Carleton. For the Ontario Schools I'm applying for a bunch of different things like International Business, International Relations, International Development & Globalization.. (Common theme..possibly? haha)
Do you(girl talking about MUN) know that there is a International Business program at MUN too? I don't know the full details on it but there is a mandatory year abroad attached to it...which is pretty sweet :P
I couldn't find it anywhere on the website or anything... I applied for Business Administration.
