Anyone else off to there in a few weeks?

I'm heading up there with 2nd year standing in Law concentration in Policy and Government.

Anyone here staying in Leeds residence?

Good for you, Leeds is probably the nicest building. I'm leaving for Carleton on Monday, I'll be the Rez Fellow on 10th Glengarry.

really? what are you taking up there again?

Of course Leeds is the nicest building, it is afterall the senior students residence, meaning none of those annoying 17 year olds who act dumb because it's their first time away from home...

Hahaha, I have the honour of looking after those 17 year olds. I'm sure they won't be that bad though. Prescott is also pretty nice to.

I'm in Criminology with a concentration in Law.

would be good to have you there...

Anyway, I don't really want to restrict myself to criminal law, there are just so many opportunities in law out there...

Ya, but then again criminology doesn't restrict you to criminal law at all. Like I work in the Law department last year (hopefully this year to if I can find the time) and the first thing we tell you is that its not a law school and its very general. If you want to do other types of law, law school's for you. But taking a law degree at Carleton isn't going to help all that much.

oh and Gretta, feel free to look me up when your around then.

i know but it's a decent start... although my schedule for this year looks more like a polisci schedule than a law schedule due to the fact that despite receiving LAWS 2004 as credit, they didn't give me LAWS 1000...

That's really odd...

Do you have Saunders for 2004? I took it this summer he's really good at helping people out.

no, I don't have to do 2004, I got it credited

My mistake, I'll read more carefully in the future. That is really weird then... seems kinda weird. I assume you still have to take LAWS 1000 then despite having the prerequsite to take upper year courses.

The Blue Tory
26th August 2005, 21:10
Yeah, taking that, it is going to cause a little problems though in later years with prereq courses. Although I am taking a 3rd year required course in the second semester

Ya, I'm kinda confused why they would do, I was thinking yesterday that I hope its not my fault. I'm pretty sure I was the one who typed up what all the transfer credits meant. But there were a lot I think that were strange like that, so I'll just assume it wasn't.

Anyway, if I already know what it's about, it's to my advantage, which will give a nice boost to my GPA.

3rd Leeds here...

Trust me- the name is kind of misleading. I'm really shy when I don't know people. But then I really start to get loud (and sometimes even annoying once you know me).

The first few weeks weren't bad.. kind of boring.. I don't really do frosh stuff. I'm kind of picky. They had some stuff I was interested in but I had other stuff going on at the same time, unfortunately.

Are you in a sqn here in Ottawa yet? I was going to join 51 but their meetings are on Tuesday nights and I unfortunately have class until 8:30PM on Tuesdays. :(

Dude, where the heck is Leeds anyways? I haven't seen it yet! Or am I just blind? Is that near the entrance to all the residences? Or nearer the engineering buildings?

Wood
19th September 2005, 13:09
Leeds is in the opposite direction from the engineering buildings, its right behind Dundas and the Art Gallery.

The Blue Tory

it's the furthest one, the big one next to parking lot 6

The big L shaped one you see when coming in from Bronson

yes that's why I hate Mondays and days like today where I have to go from here to Southam for class then back here for 2 hours, then back to Southam, then back here, then to the Library, then back here.

Sucks really, all my courses except for the one on Thursdays at Mackenzie are way on the other side of the campus... I need a bike or a shuttle bus or something

Mwahaha.. everything here is close. It's pretty much a 10-15 walk. Usually I speed walk or something crazy 'cause I'm always out of breath everytime I get there. Either I'm really unfit (highly likely) or I have asthma (highly UNlikely.)

So how did you spend your frosh week? Are you one of 'em crazy partiers I keep hearing?

The Blue Tory
19th September 2005, 16:19
no, I am second year so I didn't frosh...

I am on one of the tamest floors on campus... You could literally hear a pin drop in the halls that week...

Ouch! Rez Fellowing must rock, but I had to live on 7th last year, and know what it's like. ;) What do you think of the new colour scheme?

I go to 832 Twillick, but we meet Tuesdays too. Luckily, there are more!
211 Ottawa Kiwanis meet on Wednesdays, 706 Snowy Owl meets Thursdays, and 742 National Capital Squadron also meet on Thursdays. If you want any more information on any of these, or bus routes to get to their parade nights, just PM me! :air:

Apparently a new sqn formed up somewhere near Orleans.. Number 5? Anyways, yeah so my friend and I met up with the CO of the other sqn in Orleans and handed in our resumes to get an officer position at the new sqn, because apprently they need a lot of officer positions to be filled in. Haven't heard from her since, so... not sure how it's going to go..

Well, I'm going to be switching universities next year. I'm going to UofT taking some history and English/French language teaching courses instead of Poli Sci which I'm taking at Carleton. Carleton's a nice school and all, but Toronto has more of my friends, better shopping and my boyfriend. Sooo.. Carleton was a nice run and all, but I'll be glad to leave.
